The moon was low last night, and trees were blocking our view from the window, so Christina and I gathered at the end of the driveway to have a look.

I got your moon right here.
Too cloudy to see this morning.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

I was thinking of getting some moon pies instead.

I haven't had a moon pie in years. Those are good. So are the moon cakes.

Moon pies are OK, moon cakes suck, and this is still not a gathering.

It’s funny. I never cared for mooncakes until I worked at Tiger Claw. All the masters would come by and drop off top shelf mooncakes. Changed my world. There’s such a range now. We’d share them across the office (G2, Patrick, Kevin, Jason & me), have tastings. It was a lot of fun and we were all sugared up for a few weeks.
Now it’s a seasonal thing for me, but not something I grew up with. My dad would occasionally get them, along with a ton of odd Chinese snacks, really odd come to think of it, but not mooncakes that often. I got Tara into them and get her a tin every year. She’s born a rabbit and the art boxes are all bunnies & moons. Stacy made me hunt down a box without preservatives. That was a quest. Tara just texted that they are good (and the box was cool - art deco rabbits around the moon in pastels.) G2 texted me moon festival greetings this morning. She was boarding a plane bound for a cruise in thr Greece isles. This year I got Taiwanese pineapple mooncakes. With preservatives. Comes with a cadmium warning.

Christina called me outside last night to see the moon, so there was a gathering.
It was cloudy, but you could see it pretty well. Like a Caspar David Friedrich painting
