German trains do not run on time.
We got stuck in Munich overnight, had a great time walking through the city to a Hofbrau which was vast and packed on a pleasantly warm night. We stayed at a 25 Hours Hotel, which was a triumph of kitschy design over convenience. Their motto should be "we try too hard".
Got into Lake Constance area yessirday (Lindau) and then into Wasserburg. Last night was boat trip on the lake for wedding guests, a light dinner afterwards for same.
This morning was Euro-Breakfast and now waiting for H to come up for air. She's officiating the ceremony, placating, enforcing, managing the show in 2 languages. 1 hour 45 minutes until show time.
Temp in mid-80, no AC.

It all went swimmingly. Ate too much, watched former Stanford epee fencer win gold, now back in room. Repacked, alarm set. H will turn up soon, repack, and then to bed. Room still stiflingly hot. No AC, no screens on windows. Gonna be another miserable night.
Morning will feature Euro-Breakfast the taxi to train, train back to Vienna. Overnight there, then fly out on Monday morning.

Is sabre even a thing still? So much documented cheating.
Miserable nights "sleep" in the hot-box. Thunder/lightning very, very fright-en-ing. Weather much cooler this morning, thank god. The strategy here in EuroLand is load up on the breakfast buffet, skip lunch (maybe a beer) and then a nice dinner.
German train system once again screwed us by running late enough to miss our connection to Vienna. When we missed our outbound a couple days ago for the same reason, we just overnighted in Munich and had a great unplanned even in a beautiful city.
Today, though, we do not have an extra day. I fly out tomorrow morning. We have to be in Vienna at the airport.
So, running a full 30 min late, H unleashes her Deutschebahn Fu. I'll spare you all the details, but she got us to Salzburg and we connected with a Vienna airport train. It's a "milk run", but the first class section is wide open, the dining car is open/functional (TRAIN BEER!!!) and it is wandering through gorgeous countryside.
Beautiful country.
