TCEC 2024 - May 4-5 - San Jose
#31
I was kicking around the idea of making a bunch of videos branded with TCEC 'The Ocho' until I discovered that ESPN has trademarked 'The Ocho'. Also, probably a reference no one in the Martial Arts world would get.

Yea, that would go spiraling over the heads of our demographic. None of them are even faintly aware of ESPN I'm guessing. Those are real sports, much different from what we do, and I say this as the primary architect of our rules.

I'm guessing you don't know the ESPN The Ocho reference either.

It's like unusual sports, right?

You'd think that would be a good fit from the outside looking in, but from the inside looking out, it would be lost on our audience.

Honestly, none of us really get your jokes and references. We just smile and nod and move on...

DM has never seen Dodgeball? It's a classic.

Exactly. And the fact that ESPN devotes August 8 to wacky sports from around the world only adds to the mystique of The Ocho.

I’ve seen Dodgeball but barely remember it.

Honestly, only a few of our people at the meeting on Sunday didn’t quite know what lightsabers were.

Two weeks out. I'm sure there is still time to back out.

One week. Time to ready my excuses to bail.

No excuses for you. You knew there would be no Iron Dick Pix when you got involved.

I've been deep in the TCEC zone all this week. Dealing with the last minute curve balls and wonky details now.

I had planned to do my lammy melt tonight while watching something ultraviolent, but my color printer cartridge ran out (or glitched - it's not that old) and I broke my replacement while installing it because like an idiot, I misread the instruction hieroglyphics. I ordered a replacement which will arrive tomorrow, but I'll probably just get them printed at FedEx tomorrow, just to be safe.

I'll have to have my printer up for my Cali Roots lammies soon. Here I thought I was ahead of the game by designing them both last week. If only merc was still in retro, I'd have something to blame instead of having to suffer my own stupidity again.

If any of D00M wants to stop by and say 'hi' to the reunion of TCEC & Bad Ass Bunny, let me know. I'll have a pocket full of wristbands.

I just cleaned Darth. After a stormy winter with a hairy dog (that has a sand color coat that couldn't be brighter on Darth's imperial black interior), it was in bad shape. I had Darth washed and cleaned a few days ago but needed to scrub out some of those more stubborn stains. I'll be chauffeuring Master Grace, Darth Chad, and some yet to be determined guest. Grace texted me today to ask if she needed to shop for a Jedi robe. She was messing with me, I think. It's hard to tell over text. And so it begins...

My pet project, the May the Fourth LED Saber Championships is becoming the best Jedi Mind trick of mine ever for the Wulin. I'm working on pulling Chad out of judging because Gigi offered a table. I'm staffing it with Hoel & Toch (son of Hoel) who have full jedi robes and lightsabers. I told Hoel it is the hazing for Toch

- hold the phone - frantic G2 call ~

Oh man. That was a lot of energy. She's deep in her high gear mode. Hope she can sustain that through the weekend.

Anyway, Toch has been doing well as a volunteer at Festivals. He was supposed to work last year, but he qualified in track and went to compete. So this is his first TCEC and the son of Hoel needs a good hazing, right? Not as epic as the Iron Crotch swing for the Skipper, but it's a different case.
