We watched the first episode. It was good. Mostly similar to the movie but a few minor differences that escape me right now. It looks good; money was spent. And I think the actor playing Percy is better than the guy in the movie.

I’m now 2 deep. Enjoying it. Tara is into it and she was into the books as are many of her friends (their generation). I’ve never read them. This is more interesting than the movies but Uma as Medusa is tough to beat (the rest to totally beatable). I particularly like Pimento from 99 as Dionysus. Looking forward to Zeus & Hermes. I want a sword pen.
Back on the D+ train. Yay!

After the third commercial break during episode one, I gave into the blackmail and upgraded to the ad free version of Disney+
We watched the first two episodes. They were engaging. I did like the Minotaur in the tighty-whiteys. The second episode was a bit slower than the first. I do like the invisible girl. It was fun to see pimento pop up. We will watch more.

Pimento? I don't know that one. I remembered him as Dennis Feinstein (the perfume guy) from Parks & Rec. And a change of pace for Megan Mullallay Uma was better as Medusa, but I thought the hat and veil was a nice touch. Also good that the kid is actually about the right age, unlike the movie.

He wasn't a series regular on Brooklyn-99. He just popped in occasionally as the super detective with odd ways. I never watched much if any Parks and Rec.

Pimento was one of my fav recurring characters.
It's working better with kids that are the right age, even for me having not read the books. That undercurrent of coming of age works best with actors actually coming of age.

E3: Medusa had a more intriguing story line here than in the movie but I still hold Uma’s vampy Medusa as a funner performance. I like the 3 questers. And Hermes, who is already giving me that Paul Schaffer Disney Herc vibe.
E4: Echidna rocks. Susanne Cryer is killing it.

Ep03 I was thinking of Auntie Em was a call out to the Wizard of Oz. Percy reminds me a lot of Wyatt from Weird Science although there is no relation. I did like that Hades was in Los Angeles but the idea of a bus trip from the East Coast to the West Coast seems like that trip will be the entire show.
I never saw the film. I can't compare and contrast.

Ep04 In St. Louis. I might be done. I don't care about these kids. I don't care about their quest. There is a lot of whining. Damn you, kids. Get off my lawn.

E5: Ares is funny. I hope there’s more of him. I’m more into how the gods are depicted than anything else. Annabeth is ok, really the only kid I like but she keeps putting out these Hermione vibes. Hephaestus’ water park could’ve been much creepier and I’m not quite sure how Annabeth cajoled Percy free (might’ve dozed off for a moment there) but whatev. The quest soldiers on.

Finished E6&7. I think I've only got one more to go. The Lotus casino wasn't as hallucinogenic as I would've liked. Miranda's Hermes was a bit annoying. The underworld wasn't as dark either. Kinda losing momentum, but I'll see it through.

Finale. Not bad. A decent wrap up.
Reddick as Zeus was great. His final role I think. What a magnificent actor he was.
I liked the sappy overdone cgi Olympus. Sometimes, cheesey just rules.
There are two major swordfights in the finale. Percy v Ares & Percy v his betrayer. Both were satisfactory for what they set out to do. Could’ve been a lot worse.
Honestly, I lost track of some of the subplots because a lot happened since I last watched and I wasn’t paying that much attention, but all seem settled with a foot in the door for s2.
The end of credits scene was strangely predictable for me.
I might watch a season 2.
