Weeds whacked. Grass mowed. Poison Oak cut.
I will know later today if I successfully avoided contact with the poison oak.

Watched Gerek Meinhardt win the world cup tournament in Turin, Italy. The last opponent was a particularly slimy Italian who was having a great day. Was I wearing my Team Meinhardt shirts yesterday/today? Absolutely.
Diner breakfast and a long walk with H, punctuated with coffee.

944:261 - Big Monday. Work, then telemeet, then to my mom’s house to make sure the phone is disconnected, then to visit mom and get her to write a bunch of checks, the to the post office to get her mail, then to Tiger Claw to discuss TCEC and pick up a stick plus some other items, then to SF for a screener of Quantumania, then back home to the bungalow. I’ve already got some iced coffee for the ride.

What made the Italian slimy?

Slimy should never be left ambiguous.

The sliminess in question was his use of delaying tactics to distract Gerek. Every time G got his focus back and would start a run of 3 or 4 touches to close the gap (the slimy Italian was leading by 7 touches at the beginning) suddenly the Italian would have a medical or equipment problem. At the end of the bout, when G had finally caught up and tied the score at 14-14, the Italian tried to delay yet again (wanted to change weapons again) and the ref refused to let him. It was transparent and chickenshit.
Today: Go into the shop even though we're closed and put in a full day. Junior Olympics are this coming weekend, lots of weapon prep

Well that is poor sportsmanship. I'm glad he lost to an American on his home turf.

Kinda like a Stro tactic though, ain't it?
I packed too much into today, especially for a Monday. There was already a major YMAA crisis which has taken my morning. Plus I had to take Yukz for walkies (and poopies because he won't get out until Stacy gets off work at 5).

Definitely a classic tactic. H was watching with me and incensed by Slimy’s repeated, deliberate delays. Her view was that she had been told that if you need a moment to collect yourself, to get your head together, then this sort of delay was OK. Seeing it used as a deliberate method of fucking with the other guy really cheesed her off.
The truth is that when you buy yourself a moment or two, you are simultaneously trying to halt their momentum. In Slimy’s case, he wasn’t collecting anything, since he knew he was outgunned and his only hope was to distract G. The ref’s refusal to let Slimy continue with his disruptive ways exposed it for what it was.

How did he manage to get 7 touches ahead? That seems a lot. But I'm probably exposing my fencing naivety here...

945.262: Valentine’s Day. I get to work. Yay. Starts bright and early with a looking back telemeet (I fell short of the Jan goal by a little over a hundred bucks - so frustrating). Then I got to queue spam and figure out what the hell Kung Fu means in the quantum universe.

Look, I know I have Glauc, but you don't have to use the bigger font just for me.
