The Dead

As ED only comes here once a year for LiB, I suppose I'm the one who is premature in his place...

Quote:Word travels fast and we wanted to be the first to let you know that Dead & Company will be hitting the road next summer for what will be our final tour.
Stay tuned for a full list of dates for what will surely be an exciting, celebratory, and heartfelt last run of shows.
With love and appreciation,
Dead & Company

I'm confident that is a RM list I can get on. There was even talk of sending me to Playin on the Sand, but I'll beleive that when I've got a ticket in my hand...

Why didn't they call it the Dead End tour?

Maybe that'll be the next permutation of the band.

It was Grateful Dead...
then The Other Ones...
then Further...
then The Dead...
then Dead & Co.

Dead End totally works for me. Hopefully we'll lose Mayer, maybe pick up Billy Strings, or JRAD, or Jackie Greene. Maybe Michaela (oh please please...) there's lots of talk. Ugly Rumors as we deadheads say (it's a reference to Mars Hotel).

I don't know any of those names. The only guitarists up to the task I can think of are maybe Trey Anastasio, Curt Kirkwood (Meat Puppets) and Mark Knopfler. I don't know of any bass player up to it, except maybe Nick Blacka from GoGo Penguin. He plays upright bass, so it would bring a new sound too. And electric upright can be amazing - Sting did it when I saw the Police and it shook the Cow Palace.

And Mars Hotel was one of the good studio albums.

Couldn't find Michaela's Dire Wolf...

...and Jackie and Michaela cheated because...well Phil. But those are the two that I've heard live and was totally impressed. Many of my deadhead friends tell me I must hear Strings and JRAD live too, and I shall eventually, but many of my deadhead friends are burnt out shells of their former glory, ya know? Or they are dead. Like really dead.

I just saw Dead Kampers at the Crepe Place opening for Adrian Cavlan's band. The bass player played an electric upright as an over the shoulder bass:

Have not heard Adrian's name in like 20 years. Does he still play punk? (I've got a low tolerance for that these days.)
