Wait, so there's no chance that she can go home? What is her prognosis?

That's rough. No clue from the doctor how long rehab might be?
How many dogs does she have?

Ouch. My mom had a fractured pelvis from her last fall too...plus 4+ fractures to her spine.
I visited a bunch of the local senior care centers a few months ago but availability changes as new seniors are put in the system and old ones die. But let me know what ones you might be looking at and perhaps I'll have some insights. If she needs nursing care, that's another level. I imagine she'll probably needs that. I imagine her insurence will cover a nursing care to a point, and then you may have to find something more long term. That was how it played out with my mom. Sorry to hear, bro.

I was wrong about the white blossom care location. It's by San Jose City College, not West Valley College. I got my Fruitvale and Fruitdale avenues confused.
The next major challenge is figuring out the dog care. She has 3 skye terriers. One is particularly annoying, more than most terriers. Untrained, no manners. I may put them in the kennel she uses, but I have to see how not up to date they are on their shots and get that taken care first. --tg

So when does your mom move to the facility? And how long does she have there? My mom was at a facility until her insurance ran out and then I had to find the location she's in now which was quite a process. I imagine your mom will be able to go back home once she's recovered a bit but you might look into a caretaker to visit each week - I have a good source for that when and if that time comes.
Is Terra still doing housesitting gigs in SF? 899.81 Thursday work telemeets, moar work, Kung Fu.

My mom transferred to the rehab facility yesterday afternoon. Seems decent enough...Lots of staff on rounds. Strong COVID policies. I checked on her today around 1pm and they made me wear a face shield over my mask (which they didn't the day before) and also a disposable gown. She had a PT visit and they had her move with a walker and sit in a chair. She said they were impressed with her progress, but I wonder if they just say that to everyone... She had a nice breakfast and lasagna for lunch. She's now worried that she's going to get fat(ter). It's a big step up from the shitty ER food at Kaiser so she's happy.
Dogs only needs a few shots (2 dogs need 1 each and the other dog needs 3). i need to call the vet to see if they can schedule something soon. If not, there's a vax clinic at a couple of locations around here this weekend. I know of the one that comes to Pet Pals in Soquel every month, looked them up and found where they come around here... Terra just finished a SF pet/house sitting gig and is starting one in Bezerkely. She's coming down today to visit with my mom and then we'll go out to dinner after. --tg (09-14-2022, 08:34 AM)Drunk Monk Wrote: It was trippy to see your childhood home again. That sounds good for your mom. I'd look into how much time she has there. At a certain point, she may have to move to another facility. That's what happened to my mom, and several times that was going home, except for this last time.
Terra told us about her SF pet sitting gig. She looked like she had a blast in SF. There was talk of Tara & Terra getting together for coffee or something but Tara got preoccupied studying for the LSAT and has reduced her social life to zero until that's done. I emailed Terra (and Tara) about the Monterey Jazz Fest next weekend. They are now both on my JediNiteKrew emailing list.

Just to back up, is Tara considering Law School?
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

That's right. She keeps looking at Bri's workload from Hastings and thinking she could tackle it. She just sent me a funny LSAT prep question about a dispute between a martial arts magazine owner and publisher.

From seeing my mom try to hit the physical therapist, maybe just doing what they say is good.

I remembered posting it but can’t find it now. Maybe I should put my glasses on. Today is work and annoyance that I’m not at LiB. Got a new telemeet with YMAA starting - I could get so much more work done if we weren’t meeting all the time. Had an odd night last night. Woke up a lot but went right back to sleep so I feel rested. I had an intense dream that included Salma Hayek and now I’m disappointed that I don’t remember it.
