Yes, there is a Game of Threads. But this is all new. I can watch it because I'm not waiting on the books to finish THE GODDAMN STORY.

Never watched the episodes. GRR Martin will finish the goddamn books, dammit. He's still probably a year out from the next one. And since it's getting exponentially longer for him to write them. The next one should be done by 2050. I think there is only one more after that.

Ep01 I have ventured forth into the House of Targaryen. This show is set 172 years before GoT but it's the same old King's Landing. It's all about the succession and the stability of the kingdom. There is lots of violence and there is a lot of sex. I really didn't need to see Matt Smith doing that. There is also a birth scene that I never have to see again. I kind of knew it was coming because there was chatter about in on Twitter. But it was still brutal.
The show is pretty much all Princess Rhaenyrs and Prince Daemon at this point to see who gets to sit on the Iron Throne. I'm glad everyone gets to wear a blond wig.

George R.R. was too lazy and weak to finish the series in time so this multi-million dollar production had no ending, so the TV series had to make up its own ending. And it was dumb. So dumb. You really should fast forward to the fight scene - the Battle of the Bastards episode is a choreographic and cinematographic masterpiece.

S1 Ep02 Lots of plot set up. It all came down to getting the widowed king to marry a 12 year old daughter of one his most important supporters. There were a few "that's just disgusting" moments. No big fight scenes but there was a tense standoff on the bridge. Matt Smith's Daemon didn't appear as strong of character in this episode.
The upshot was it was a bit dull but I could sense they were drawing lines for upcoming things. Did finally realize the actor playing the King's Hand, Rhys Ifans (Thank you IMDB) also played Hugh Grant's daft roommate in Notting Hill.

Here is one of my key thoughts from Ep 03: Boy, they sure did spend a lot of the budget on food set dressing that will all be thrown away at the end of the day. Wasteful.
Lots of beautiful cinematography. One shot that affected me at the time was the king standing alone in front of a giant bonfire. More plotting to see who will be the heir. The time has jump forward. The king now has a son which is inconvenient since he named his daughter his heir. The battle still rages on with the crab king down in the straights. That leads to some really nice battle sequences. The Princess Heir is not happy with the shenanigans around her that want to marry her off and assume her new young brother will be the next king. I'm a little put off by the gratuitous violence of the show. I think the goal is to see how horrific they can be I guess in the hope of realism. Personally, don't need it. I particularly don't like the harming of animals even if the animals are CGI. It's feeling a bit repetitive. The constant quest for an heir. Yes, it is the game of thrones but aren't there others stories to tell while doing that dance?

Hmm, maybe I missed an episode. Ep 04 was the incest episode leading to banishment. Eww
Ep05 proves once again you should never have a wedding in Westeros. And it's the worst least loving marriage ever. Rhanyres agrees to marry the Valyrean son despite the fact his proclivities point in a different direction. They introduced a great new character. The Queen is told that she has to look out for her kids if Rhanyres becomes Ruler. Lots of machinations. The flow to the show is still clunky. They do generate some genuine emotional moments but none of the scenes really seem to flow from one to another as if this scene builds to that scene. I'm still preferring RoP because it's not quite as morally slimy.
