I was recently thinking about that Yellowman show we saw at the Circle Star. I can't remember exactly who opened except it was two women. I think Lady Saw, and (less sure about) Marcia Griffiths? Do you remember?

That Circle Star show was one of my fav Yellowman performances. It was way up there with when I saw him in JA and the first time I saw him. And I can't remember who opened. My first thought was that it was Black Uhuru but that doesn't seem right. I don't think it was Lady Saw. That seems too early for her. Maybe Marcia?
Maybe I still have the ticket stub. I've saved a lot of those in an album, those that survived. I was just looking at that to see if I had any Mighty Diamonds stubs but no.
742: Rainy Monday morning blues. Beyond the usual workload, I have a tele meeting I might sit in on with a scholar and a master that I set up as a favor, plus I'm headed over to my mom's because her usual caretaker had to take today off due to her husband having an operation.

Just had a major power outage. Hoping it gets restored before my back up power runs out and then I’ll lose work. It does kill my wifi

I looked up "female dancehall artists" and it jogged my memory, but only halfway. Shelly Thunder was one opener. Still can't remember the other one. One of them did a little "Electric Slide" bit during her set.

Shelly Thunder. Haven't thought about her in forever...
Electric slide is a Marcia thing. I remember her killing that at the Greek once.
Those two do sound familiar as openers.
However, below is what is printed on my ticket stub.

743: I had hoped today would start with the YMAA Q1 looking back meeting. This was the 1st quarter that was entirely under my direction as my predecessors vacated in December and I beat the sales goal significantly. I was looking forward to my nooB victory lap.
But no, I’m still at the ER, waiting for my mom to be admitted. She’s finally sleepy but just prior she was repeatedly telling me what to do (she only interacts with me and caregivers so she gets unintentionally bossy). She’s forgotten most of the hardships of her spine operation, which is a blessing for her but a curse for me as I’m still grappling with the trauma of all that. I couldn’t take it and had to step out. My blood sugar was crashing and that makes me angry.
Maybe I’ll still make some of that meeting before coming back here to check on her progress. Then I guess I’ll just work for the rest of the day, probably back at my moms. We’ll see. All plans are sideways now.

I'm exhausted... but if a crash now, I know I'll wake in the middle of the night. I'm struggling to stay up at least until sundown in some hopes of getting my circadians on track.

I did manage to stay up until 10, but I’m awake again now at 4am so that didn't work
744: I’ll check in on mom when visiting hours begin (it’s 10-6), work (must prep for tomorrows meetings), sort the house so it’s stable for the week, and head up to Berkeley for that screener with Patrick. It’ll be a good distraction. I’m not sure if I’ll come back here tonight or make it for home yet. It depends upon where my mom is.

If you're still in Svale tomorrow, I can swing by with a few CDs I've been saving for you. Nothing really fancy, but some things I thought you might want and not have.

We’ll, I’m still in svale tonight but my schedule is tight tomorrow. I’m not sure I’ll have time to chat KB. Which bums me out…
745: My Thursday triptych of meetings (8-9; 10:30-11:30; 12-1) There was a big snafu which will surely be the subject of a lot today because it might jam up a lot. Meanwhile waiting on news about my mom. I’ll head over to her as soon as my meetings are done on my way home. Then hopefully some Kung Fu tonight then dinner with the founder of Immortal Studios.

746: I work to catch up and get ahead which is a lot. Working off my laptop last week was limiting. Stacy might attend to my mom today. Plus I’m to be interviewed as a talking head expert for a very unusual outlet - they said they only need 15 mins. This came through over the last week so I’m not exactly sure what it is…some online film discussion series … in Arabic.

747: it’s raining so I’m debating kung Fu. I need to work today and do laundry to free up tomorrow.

Breaking out the scanner and working on my Grandfather's WW2 Photo Album. Attending the Raymond Annual parade later.
