Sheltering in Place
I have never seen Fixer-Upper. Ive never even heard of it. I live in my bubble of swords and bad drug trips.

737: Taking mom to her follow up post-fall appointment. She’s using her walker and vacillating between saying she’s feeling painfully stiff and improving each day. She’s getting around though, and her neighbor is a great help. Plus there’s work as always. I’m cramming to finish a retrospective on Jimmy Wang Yu for Den.

You haven't missed much.

Today leaves are starting to poke out on the ash tree. It's always the last one.

My mom’s new tree, planted by the city after they removed the giant amber that was tearing into the plumbing with its fat roots, is just starting to bud. Meanwhile the tree pollens are making my eyes itch.

738: Work including 2 meetings, trying to fix a problem that I was working on for hours yesterday and an evening interview with a YMAA author in Vietnam after Kung Fu.

I should sleep now…

You should come to the Lair where everything has a lovely dusting of pollen!

We got pollen dusting here too despite less trees…

739: Work & dog park. There’s a show at the Rio tonight that I’m thinking about (which would be a violator to the SiP thread). Michaela Davis is sitting in with Circle round the sun (I think that’s what they’re called). Stacy was into it until the latest omicron variant. I know the Rio owner Laurence (a dog park regular) and he says the show is only half sold. We’ll see. I’m not going alone.

740: Either it’s Mung Fu, pick up some custom tie dyes for two different KF brothers new babies, meet Tg’s daughter for coffee - or - take my mom to the ER. Depends on a phone call I’ll have in a few hours…

My mom called upset that I planned to add another caretaker. She doesn’t want anything to change and says she’s doing better every day (not what she said the last two days). So we’ll belay that trip to the ER, although I’m waiting to hear if her neighbor has a conflicting report (he’s been so kind to bring her the newspaper and check in with her every day -  her newspaper shows how stubborn she is with resisting change)

I applaud the use of the newspaper. I, too, do not want to change. Good luck with your mom.

741: This week hinges on my mom’s state. I’ll hope to have the day to prep enough of a pad for work so that it won’t be affected.

Yes, good luck. I remember a lot of anxiety from my mom's health, and the caregiver era.

it will be a day of weed whacking! Whose idea was it to buy property with so many weeds on it. I fear it's going to be a long hot summer and the potential for fire will be off the charts. I talked a neighbor who has additional property up the road. Last year a small fire (200 Acres) was adjacent to their property. They had to move their horses to protect them.

I've made the rookie mistake of not wearing my dust mask when I did the brush clearance. I will now spend the rest of the day sneezing and with watery eyes.

You know, I almost posted 'remember to wear your mask' but didn't. I figured you're already hip to that.

Did I ever tell you about the time we treated some festival site crew who weed whacked a patch of poison oak? It was in their eyes and sinuses. Had to hit them with major injected antihistamines or they might have asphyxiated because their airways were closing from the swelling.

It's all about protection...
