The Genre Picture
#1
I'm working down in Downey on the big Viral picture. In one of the other buildings (the biggest one at Downey Studios) another group is working on an equally secret untitled project simply referred to as the Genre Picture. It has Spielberg as the Director and George Lucas as the executive producer. I think even Harrison Ford might be in it. I can't imagine what picture they are doing.

However one of the propmakers on the show came by to chat. For the last two or three weeks all he's been doing is building some old fashioned crates. Thousands and Thousands of them. He couldn't imagine what they could possibly for. I immediately thought of the end shot of another Spielberg-Lucas collaboration. Interesting. More crates. Hmmmmmm . . .. . . . .

Why make crates? Can't they just do them all digital now? Why employ crate makers?

Anybody? Hello?

Goddamn non-union computer users. To you I say Pheh!

We're not building the Brooklyn Bridge if that makes you happy. Although, I am working on a set that makes people nauseous when they walk through it.

Not due to your craftsmanship, I trust?
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Everybody seems to have a weird sense of dislocation as they walk through the set. The floor is pitched so it throws off the inner ear. But the walls are perpendicular to the floor so your brain can't find the horizon line. They had a production walk through on Friday. Our UPM fell to the ground.
