Saw this on SlashDot:
Quote:"Peter Berg will be directing a new big-budget Dune movie from Paramount. SFFMedia reports that 'although there were some doubts that they were going to get it,' the producers have secured the rights to the Dune novel from Frank Herbert's estate and are looking for writers to provide a screenplay that is true to the original text. Can't wait!"
This time it's for real: new Dune movie confirmed

Coming to HBO Max today, Thursday. I'll get to it over the weekend. There was some discussion of seeing it in the theater but meh.

Saving myself for the big screen on this one.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

I have seen the film. I saw it at home, much to Denis Vlllaneuve's scorn. I have thoughts. I'll hold on to them until more people have seen the film. Yes, my hate burns bright. But what did you expect?

I apologize to anyone that saw my review. It was full of spoilers. I meant to save it to draft, which I now have done. It sits in my draft folder like a bomb waiting to go off on the unsuspecting.
Although as a SciFi author has posted on the internet, how many spoilers can there possibly be for a 50 year old novel?

Not reading any of this. Don't want no spoilers. I can't really remember the book that well, just the banquet scene and the hand in the box, and a few other things.
One of my classmates at the academy is a huge fan. He shares a birthday with Herbert and has re-read the original every year since high school (he's in his 30s). He saw it on the big screen and again on HBO. He loves it.
But here's a crappy version of the article I would've written for KFM to get into that screener that I wasn't invited to: https://screenrant.com/dune-swords-no-gu...explained/
I haven't read this either. But I can guess that the author is headed where I planned to go to give it the martial spin for KFM. I think Roger Yuan was the choreographer and I would've blathered on about him. I've always thought that the force field suits were brilliant, a way to introduce sword play into space. But then again, projectile weapons would be no good on space ships because you don't want to blow a hole in the hull. That was depicted well in Outland, but no one has picked up on it. Swords in space I tell you. Machete in Space was prophesy, or at least it will be if it ever gets made.
Not sure when I'll get around to this. Don't have HBO and probably won't get out to the theaters for weeks...

We had a decent pour last night. Bit of a break now, just blustery. More to come allegedly.
Hoping my power holds. I have a reserve battery for my computer, but when our hood goes out, it kills my provider too. Today is a work day...

We might get 2 and a quarter inches over the next day.
Now I'm regretting letting the drought discourage me from planting a fall garden.
Also, to quote from Twister, "Debris! We have debris!" Like you could ever have a tornado without.
No cows yet.
Maybe I'll chance a walk.
