537: Off topic - to Napa.
When I signed up for BottleRock, the trend was a decline in cases. Now there’s a surge and it’s a holiday weekend. Everyone is supposed to be vaxxed and it’s outdoors but I’m regretting committing to this now. Hope the air quality isn’t too bad due to fires. I’ll be staying masked.

Good luck.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Why didn't you spend the night and drive home this morning?
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

I had momentum after the show plus I didn’t want to impose on my hosts or Stacy anymore than I already did. I almost never spend an extra night. Once it’s over, sometimes even before, I wanna go home.
Had a solid 8 hours of sleep. Yuki woke me with his morning bark and check in. He comes to my bedside at dawn, gives my hand a sniff and lick, then leaves.
541 - catch up on work (some ad copy due), get a cake for my mom’s belated birthday celebration tomorrow, then head over to svale. Hopefully some LCdP tonight.

542: Telemeet first thing but I’m being excused early to take mom to the dentist again. This will be the last time for a while. Then Tara will drop by for lunch - a belated birthday celebration. I got a nice chocolate raspberry cake from the buttery. Then home.

I think it's "THE BUTTERY"....those are the best. They know their ganache from their Ganesh. Lemon Poppyseed is a close second.

When we first moved here, we were very into THE BUTTERY. Then Stacy started having gluten issues so we backed off. We live way to close to there. I hadn't been back since the pandemic, which can be said about just about everything. There's no indoor seating anymore, which gave me ample time to check out that wall diorama of the building's history while waiting (before that was always over an occupied table so it was awkward).
543: Only two meetings today because one was postponed due to the bossmang's meeting with PGW (D00M B00K peeps know). Kung Fu tonight where I might sell a sword - not one of mine but a fellow student asked.
I'll likely watch the making of doc on Money Heist tonight. Still sore about that.

544: TGIF but it’s still a work day. However I have two meal appts.
Lunch with the chef who nominated me for CHSA. We’ve never met in person. Going to 11th hour.
Dinner with some old KF brothers. Jeff Hung’s son Jon is starting at UCSC and their picking up the key to his apt downtown. Don might join them (the cfs know). Not sure where to go yet. They want me to decide and I’m trying to think of a good outdoor venue that won’t be crowded. Something downtown maybe? Any thoughts tg?

If Laili's is open, their patio is nice. Good veg offerings, too.

Oooooh good call.
I think we’re just going to stroll the mall and see what’s less populated. I was thinking Chocolate or Abbott square.

Oh, the taco place that replaced Assembly (across from Logos, just down from the Del Mar) has lots of nice street taco alternatives and street-side seating under the trees.
