MEEEEEEEE!!!!!

e7: When Pubba Met Birdie

It’s the best episode. But you’ll be thinking of me so much, it may be ruined for you. You could call it the art of spoiling, without spoiling.

Ep4 I didn't care for the band of furries. How they arose and the girl who leads them all seemed implausible. And yet they still have computers and are playing VR games. I would have fought the lead girl for control of the group, as well. And how did you learn your battle techniques if you started when you were a pre-teen with only video games to teach you.

11 year old pop tarts must taste nasty. I do like the world where the doctor lives and the Sophie's Choices he must make. The horse kick was weird.

I like the zoo as well. I'm amused by pig girl and rabbit boy. But if you hear alarms go off in your house, do you immediately turn on the lights to go investigate?

Still no sign or thoughts of DM, which is a blessing.

E5 will be mediocre. E6 is set up for the next one.

Then there's E7. When you see E7, you'll know. And you'll think of me. ME!!!

I think 11 year old pop tarts would taste pretty much the same as they do now, as long as the packaging seal wasn't broken. Heck, they might taste better.

Agreed about your issues with the furry kids, but Bear develops nicely later...especially in E7.

S1Ep5 was mediocre. Does the General only show up when there is a fire so we can see the flames reflected in his burgundy tinted glasses?

Although that was a good twist to see that character still alive. And the doctor really has to get better at hiding bodies.

The furry leader continues to be unbelievable. The fighting between her and Big man seems performative. Pushing on through in the hope Gus will find his mom, which he won't.

Damn you, DM! Double Damn you for good measure.

As soon I recognized the Grateful Dead tune in S1Ep7, I just shook my head. I paused the episode and took your name in vain multiple times. tQ looked at me questioningly. I just said the goddamn Grateful Dead. It took her a second to realize the connection but when she did her head just dropped forward onto her chest. There had be better more to this episode than just a Grateful Dead tune to recommend it. There was. There was two Dead tunes. And some banter about the band itself. Fucking hell.

But first S1Ep6. Not a great episode either. How do you run and catch up to a train going full speed? Even if the train is a crappy looking CGI train running through a poorly rendered CGI landscape? I'm going to say no. And yet here we are on the train. And then how are you surprised there are people on the train? And how do you expect to hide from those people. And Gus is really starting to piss me off. Why is he in charge again except force of will. And everything he does jeopardizes the rest of the party. Oh, great Gus has run off again and we are going to follow him into danger. And how does a battery operated radio continue to work after ten years? Why would you plants invade your house and not cut them back? I might be getting my episodes confused at this point. We watched the final three in one push because I was reliably (not reliably as it turned out) informed Ep7 was going to be memorable. Which I foolishly took to mean as good. My bad. That's on me.

Although, S1Ep7 was better than the other episodes. It was nice to see the backstory of so many characters and how everything went to hell. It was good to see more about the Big Man and the Doctor. I need some history on the General, though. Where does he come from? And why is he so cartoonish? And why do his followers follow this cartoon General?

And could someone show the Art Department what the area around Yellowstone looks like? Because it doesn't look like what they are showing.

So, Ep7 was better but not substantially so.

S1Ep8 ends on a huge cliffhanger. And guess what? I don't care. Gus deserves what he gets. All the mistakes are on his shoulders.

I've been asking this question since 2016...

I did like the fact the train was full of Hand Sanitizer and toilet paper.

And we’re back!
Just watched s2e1. I barely remembered what was going on here, just that there was a Grateful Dead tie in and the deer boy was adorbs.
There was another Grateful Dead tie in with the mystery cassette in the Shady Grove case. SG is a Garcia/Grisman album.
So yeah, I’m back in.

2 more eps deep and the Grateful Dead easter eggs keep coming. The lab that first did the experiments that released the virus and created the hybrids is called Midnight Sun, which is a lyric from China Cat Sunflower. Then Big Man goes searching for help from the Garcias. I’m only in it now for the dead eggs.

E2 was big man’s back story, which was good. Then e3 explores the midnight sun lab, but no major revelations emerged but at least the doc got some leads for the cure.

Not sure if I’ll make it through all 8 eps of s2 but the dead eggs call to me.

Shady Grove is a really old folk song and Midnight Sun is also an old jazz standard by Johnny Mercer (not to mention a common phrase about summer way up north) - so maybe the Dead, but maybe your pareidolia.

True but there's a definite deadhead theme in this series. It's one of those shows, like GotG, Willow, and so many others, that relies heavily on vintage songs. In s1e7, the showrunners tipped their hand with 3 dead tunes: Truckin, FotD, and Ripple.
The Shady Grove reference refers to a cassette tape case and you can see the cover which is the trees of the old Garcia/Grisman album.

That being said, pareidolia is a great word. Props for properly deploying it here.

Netflix has renewed “Sweet Tooth” for a third and final season, which has already been filmed in New Zealand, the streamer announced.
“In a lot of ways, it’s exactly the story that I imagined we would tell and in a lot of ways it takes on its own life. At the beginning, I think you set out to tell these landmark pieces of Gus’ story and the big pieces of the comic book, but the beauty of long-form storytelling and Gus’ journey over 24 episodes is the characters themselves tell you what they want to be. The crew and cast bring so much depth and point of view to who the characters are and where they’ve come from and where they’re going,” said creator, showrunner and executive producer Jim Mickle.

Mickle continued, “Season 3 is an Arctic story with exciting new adventures and what we hope will be a satisfying conclusion to this epic tale. Gus is going to see a side of the world and humanity that he didn’t see in Season 1 or 2.”
Additionally, the series will be making a few additions to the cast in the forthcoming chapter. Rosalind Chao (“Better Things,” “Mulan”), who plays Zhao, has been upped to a series regular alongside Amy Seimetz (“No Sudden Move,” “Pet Sematary”), who plays Birdie. Cara Gee (“The Expanse,” “Call Of The Wild”) will join for Season 3 as a series regular with Ayazhan Dalabayeva. Gee will star as Siana and Dalabayeva as Nuka.
The news comes just shortly after the release of Season 2, which quickly earned 48.3 million hours viewed during its first four days of release following its April 27 debut.
In addition to Mickle, the series is executive produced by Beth Schwartz, Susan Downey, Robert Downey Jr. through their Team Downey banner alongside Evan Moore, Amanda Burrell, and Linda Moran. Mickle also serves as a director. “Sweet Tooth” is produced by Warner Bros. Television.

This is fine. It could even have ended on S2, but I might see it through. It'll be good to see Cara again.

But you'll never find out where they get their electricity from.

I find that it's common for post-apocalyptic authors (and often sci-fi authors in general) to forget about things that they don't have to think about much in their lives - power, food, clothing. Why is everyone not farming or ranching? How did their pre-disaster clothes last so long?
