S2e1: the roombanator. Cute. Funny. I liked the resolution.
S2e2: beautiful animation style. Reminded me of what joining DOOM was like (or it would if I wasn’t a founding brother). No robots tho. I feel a little cheated by that.

Saw the first 3eps.
S2e1: Funny. Seems like we've seen this tale. Enjoyed the animation
S2e2: They were surrounded by tons of robots out on the ice. Not bad.
S2e3: So dark. Darky dark. Mare of Easttown dark. I don't really like the video game animation.

I suppose. Those just read like machines to me. I want my bots to have more personality or at least, they should try to sell me knockoff shoes...

Noted. I'll give the shoe slingers your direct line.

They already have it here. I look at DOOM more than I look on my phone. Well, I look at my phone to look at DOOM. Or something like that...

I'm aboard with this, BTW.  Four episodes in.

I'm not as bothered by the rotoscope technique (not certain if that's the correct term).  It gives almost filmic detail in the characters, while allowing for seamless integration with animated special effects that would otherwise be prohibitively expensive to do for live-action integration.  At least that's how I see it.

The storylines have been disappointingly simple.  Then again, when the lengths are 12-18 minutes, what can you expect?  A miracle, that's what.  I'm very demanding these days.

Very very demanding.

S2E1: Liked the animation, but the storyline was rather flippant, and with a troubling inconsistency [SPOILER ALERT!]The roomba was totally killing stuff with death beams throughout, but then switched to a taser on the neighbor dude for the convenience of the plot.[END SPOILER]  Like I said, very very demanding.

S2E2: Better, but familiar and predictable.  Just given a SF veneer.
S2E3: Yeah, pretty dark, but I thought it was solid for its length.
S2E4: [Snow in the Desert] Rotoscoped like S2E3, and I probably liked this the best so far.

Oh, and I'm learning a very important truth from this series.  All butch gals are evil.

I've going to have to question you on the rotoscoping for Ep3. I opine that it is all just computer generated characters.

You're right.  I'm playing catch-up in reviewing these, and my memory drifted on that one.

Just watched another.

S2E5 [The Tall Grass]:  Simple concept but very atmospheric.  Good expressions and suspense.  I liked it perhaps better than it warrants.  [NON-SPOILER]No evil butch women.[END NON-SPOILER]

Rotoscope has evolved to Motion Capture - mo-cap as we say in the biz. Same idea but better tech. Mo-cap can be done in 3 dimensions.

S2e3: Nicely done. A Bladerunneresque world with a contrapositive spin on Children of men. Directed by Jennifer Yuh Nelson, who did Kung Fu Panda 2 & 3. She also did The Darkest Minds which was live action and heavily promoted when I was in Paris. I always meant to see that despite it's lackluster reviews.

Unlike Greg, I'm okay with 'videogame' animation (Greg should avoid this http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=6276). It's really only a small step from this style of animation to what is being done in The Bad Batch. That's just more caricature.

I was ready to reject your assertion that MoCap is the new rotoscoping but after giving it some thought, I think you are correct. In these big MCU films it's hard to differentiate between the animation/VFX and the live action.

S2e4: gorgeous animation. Nice bit of world building. Felt like a proof of concept. Enjoyable.

S2e5: I liked the animation style but the wil-o-wisp tale didn’t keep my attention (saying a lot for a short).

S2e6: an out of season Xmas short just doesn’t work. And no robots. I was promised robots in the title, dammit. Lame Ep.

S2e7: stunning animation. Nice tension in a simple space tale. Liked this one.

S2e8: no robots here either but I enjoyed it. Strange twist on gulliver. Again, stunning animation.

Snow in Winter S2E4: Again with the Computer Game animation. Although, the story was good and could have been fleshed out more. Lots of interesting characters.

The Tall Grass S2E5: Don't get off the train. Gets off train. Don't go in the Grass. Goes in grass. Definitely no robots. Not a lot of love either. Nice to see animation though.
