Dick Van Dyke is a butler running robin-hood scams with the staff, stealing from the rich because he's well connected. At first it was to protect the lady of the manor, who didn't inherit the fortune she thought she did, but then he and his gang of thieves just become flat out thieves. The Lady hires Agent 99 as a secretary who foils the plans. Dick and 99 fall in love. It confuddles me how people fall in love so quickly in old movies. They all conspire to pull one last heist and it's chaos.
This stars a ton of people you've seen in other movies and TV from the time - Norman Fell, John McGiver, John Fiedler, and the first role for Sam Waterson.
I couldn't get behind it. It came up as an xmas flick on Amazon Prime, and it is set during xmas, but the takeaway lesson is that crime pays and the privileged stay so. Should've went with some version of an xmas carol.
No sword fights. Not DOOM recommended.
