I've had this in my queue forever. The original graphic novel punched me in the gut like no other. It was a brutal take on the Joker, crossing deep into the abyss. I found it traumatic, like it should be.
The animated version covers the same ground but it's not as graphic. It didn't hit nearly as hard but I knew what was coming, and from what I remember, it was toned down. And there's a musical number. I don't remember that from the comic, but then, it wouldn't have been set to music, would it?
Mark Hamill voices the Joker, and he's on point as always with that. It's his 2nd greatest role. Hamill had left the role but said he would come back if TKJ was ever done, and he did. After that, he came back a few more times to voice Joker.
This is another Joker creation story. But Joker has a great line about wanting the past to be multiple choice, foisting the idea that all of his creation stories are products of his hallucinatory world. I buy that.
No sword fights. Not really DOOM recommended, especially since none of you have dove into the DCAMU, although this is an outlier, based on the comic and not connected with the others. If you're going to see one, see Batman Ninja http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=4504
