Sheltering in Place
(04-16-2020, 10:04 AM)Greg Wrote: "Aren't the construction workers supposed to be sheltering in place?"

That's ambiguous. Initially all construction was deemed 'essential' but that was rolled back in some counties.  I don't recall the exact language but the distinction was basically trying to restrict private construction and allow municiple stuff like medical/emergency developments, road work and infrastructure repair. Didn't seem to phase any construction here though, and last weekend we cited seven kids from Fremont for hanging out at the local 7-11 - a $7K fine.

I'm thinking only Christian megachurches and Republican conventions should be exempt.  I heard WWE is essential in FL, but then didn't 45 appoint WWE's CEO as an economic advisor recently?

They talked about the WWE last night on Chris Hayes's show. Seems campaign donations are made at the same time WWE was declared essential. It's important for McMahon to have live shows so as not to void some lucrative contracts. I guess they figured out a way to make everyone happy.

Stacy got out for about 40 mins. The signs were still up and some parking lots were coned off.  She went for Big Basin which according to the CAParks site is still closed.  But Nisene is open so maybe tomorrow.

Got some writing in.  It's slow and I'm generally unmotivated so I spent more time on sitonmyfacebook.

DAY 30: I got my $1200 stimulus on my EDD credit card. Yay.  Now to figure out how to transfer that money into my bank account.  And the nice thing about EDD - it's just cash on the card - no prez names.

Sadly our tub plugged up last night.  I ran some draino down it but to no avail.  A plumber is coming in an hour or so.

Stacy got up before I did (as usual lately) and disappeared with the car. She's hiking somewhere and has been out for a while now, so I assume she found an open trail.

The rest of today is the quaranroutine. Putting the finishing touches on another essay for my Kung Fu school.  A Zoom conference with that consulting prospect.  We need to make a water run but Stacy said she'd handle that because I did it last time.  We got our Farm Fresh delivery yesterday so we're well stocked for food.

happy friday.

Happy Friday to all of youse.

Friday is laundry day. I don’t have laundry access in my little cave, but my neighbors graciously allowed me to join in the laundry fun. The way they decided to do it, to reduce exposure, is to give all the players a specific day that the laundry room would be theirs exclusively. I got Friday.

In keeping with the theme, I also clean my cave on Fridays. Mainly because Harriett comes over on the weekends and I want to present an entirely false front, a carefully constructed lie about how I normally live.

I may go do some work in the shop later today. Or I may take sinus meds and take a nap.

I haven't really gotten to know Harriett, but she seems like a smart lady (aside from dating you) and I suspect you are not fooling her here, but at least, she probably appreciates the effort.

I'm now confused about the extra $1200 on this week's EDD credit.  It may be an extra weekly $600 because the $1200 stim was supposed go direct deposit to my bank.  It's all so confusing, this unemployment stuff.

DAY 31: Going to try getting my EDD transfered into my checking again.  Also need to get water.  The rest is quaranroutine.

Yesterday I skipped my work out. That was lame. It's not like I was busy or anything.

Been having a difficult time getting to sleep.  I read some dumb internet article on covid-induced insomnia.  Actually, I just read the headline.  I think I read that at 2AM this morning...

EDD transfer successful!  We'll make rent. Actually, we would've made rent anyway, but it's good that I got my EDD$ back from the government. At least that part works. Stacy tried to transfer hers and got a denial, just like I did for the first go. So word to the wise for any of you trying to transfer funds off your EDD debit card into your account - give yourself some leeway because it might take a few attempts.

I'm just glad that worked. I was worried.

DAY 32: Bicycle Day.

I really didn't want to get up out of bed this morning.  But I had to use the bathroom.

Same ol' quaranroutine, plus laundry and some consulting work.

Writing is slow without the deadline pressure and with all the mental distractions of the time. My next essay for my school is just about done - just need to take a pic and polish up a few more passages. Book #2 is moving along but at a painfully slow rate. It knows where it's going but it's taking its sweet time to gain any momentum.

DAY 33: 4/20. The stoner holiday but I'm not inhaling. I'm having enough issues with my allergies already. I might tune into my buddy's livecast - he's left the music industry and making a killing in the dispensary world in L.A. MAPS had similar presentations for Bicycle Day yesterday, but I opted out.

Submitted my second essay for my school.  Here's the first one fyi: https://www.plumpub.com/kaimen/2020/shaolin-sheltering/

I got my same ol' quaranroutine. Stacy spent the morning trying to take advantage of an online Pharmica sale. It was frustrating for many weird reasons. She's just gone off for her hike leaving me alone to write and make lunch. Maybe nap, maybe shower. It was cold and rainy here this morning. Now it's just cold.

Gray day here. H has walked back to her (temp) cave and I’ve looked over docs for the ante-ante-penultimate phase of being executor for Barbara’s estate. This week I visit banks, setting up accounts and closing accounts. Next comes paying off bills, next comes taxes, finally close probate. All in all I expect 6 months to wrap it up. Taxes will be the hard one.

Fencing club will likely be closed until end of May. VFG will likely go to on-line only starting maybe the end of this week.

Walking a lot, put on a few more pounds, body feeling pretty good overall. That former grind was really a grind.

My sister Roberta mentioned they had reopened the beaches in the 'Cruz. If that is the case, that must be a bit of relief.

Stacy came home and immediately asked if I was stoned.  Nope. Sober.  And Sagacious.

Nonetheless, I haven't done anything today. Just surfed the web. Tried to write but kept getting interrupted by texts and such from stoner friends.

My buddy's livecast is failing due to technical difficulties.  They've resolved to film their Zoom session on an iphone and broadcast that.  Stoners are so funny sometimes. I'm tuning out now.

They have but all the parking is closed and you gotta keep moving in small groups.  They have been citing out-of-towners and larger groups.  That's fine actually.  Locals only.  Stacy has been getting out but my allergies have kept me inside.

Beach time is the best. Glad they reopened to locals.

DAY 34: Today is svale day. I'll head over in the afternoon.

Of course, it's a shining day here in the Cruz. Clear and warm after a rainy morning yesterday.

We made a major run to Companion bakery and are now well stocked with breads and pastries.

USPS failed to pick up yesterday.  Anyone else having postal issues now?
