DAY 10 - Today looks pretty much like yesterday, and tomorrow looks the same. The only thing of note is that I'm rather bummed about Mulan ( http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...8#pid36688). That's hitting me unusually hard right now because it's making me think of work and the difficult circumstances my company is facing now. Things were going so well for me there until this. Ironic. The anti-Asian sentiment will likely have an impact on business too. I'm hypersensitive to that because of many of the news groups and such that I'm part of - remember I used to write for some AmerAZN mags too, back when I was freelance. It all looks very grim today.

nothing happens all day and then, all at the same time, stacy asks me what kind of tea i ordered (don't remember), a delivery man arrives with a huge package (not for us, for our neighbor) and my mom's doc called (regarding a tax form i asked her to fill out). all at the same time.
it was too much excitement for me. i had to take a nap.
stacy thought that was funny.

DAY 11: My daily task schedule is complete and I'm thinking I need to add to it now.
And I'm going to do some writing.
Write now, right now.
Soon as I finish this post.
Yep.

I believe you.
I do.
Totally.
How's the nap coming?

no nap today. slept in until like 9:30 and got a new stash of earl grey delivered, so we're good.
and i did get some writing done on book project #2. still at it, but taking a little break right now.
feels good to be writing again. seeing how i write pretty much every working day, i didn't realize how much i missed it.

Got the archival pieces in Book #2 ready but that's only a small portion of it. Looked over my notes. A lot of them don't make a lick of sense. It's been kicking around in my head conceptually for a long time but it's far from being anywhere. It's doable, but the real challenge begins next - filling out the envisioned parts, the novel part of it.
Took a tiny nibble of Book #3. It's more fun, fun for me at least. But I don't know if I actually got anything yet. That one is based on dozens of files that need to be sifted through, sorted, edited and rewritten. It might not work in the end, but at least I'm looking at it now.
The starting line is crossed. But they are both marathons, long marathons, until the finish line.

DAY 12. We had planned to go hiking today, to explore a new trail in Big Basin up to a mountaintop. But it's raining. I don't like hiking in the rain. Stacy likes it. She's got proper rain gear and delights in the spring rain. She went anyway.
I haven't left the bungalow area in four days. I've confined myself to a space that's about 50' square or so.
Tomorrow I'll go hiking. When it's not raining.

Stacy returned from her hike claiming she didn't even need to put on her rain gear. Whatev. It's beautifully clear now and sun has already dried up the water from this morning's downpour. And there was a downpour. I swear there was. Lotza wet. All over. Not good for hiking dammit. Tomorrow. Tomorrow.
I did my daily S.I.P routine and have been writing. Book#2 is feeling a little groovy, like there may be something to it after all. Book#3 is flailing miserably. Might be a lost cause after all but it's way to early to tell. Things sound so much better in my head but sometimes writing them down only reveals my own hubris about my thoughts.

Walk with the Honey, same route as before, raining lightly for some of it. Very few people out, the beach was sparsely peopled, but thoroughly doggled. GG Park was too less full, 6 ft being easier to maintain this time. Waiting for grocery delivery. Very, very lucky so far.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

30 more days? i'm fine with the social distancing and would be content if this was always so, but the shelter in place - that's what keeps me off the payroll.

DAY 13: Stacy got up early and made a Whole Foods run. She claimed she was 60 and got into the limited hours zone. She said it was okay except for some possibly homeless dude who kept chatting everyone up and only bought a six-pack.
Tiger Claw issued a company email saying it would honor the fed's new 30 more days. It was cursory but more coherent than the first one. There was no new info for me however. I'll probably email my crew soon to update them on our particular situation with publishing. We've been a team for 20 years and never missed a deadline until now. I'm rather sad about this.
I'll probably go out today, go for a walk or a hike, just to get out. Maybe the beach. I haven't left our bungalow since I was at my mom's last week, and I should get back out there just to desensitize myself to being out again. It's a lovely day here in the Cruz.

DAY 14. "Let's climb a mountain!" Stacy and I have been eyeing this trail for a while. We hit Companion for coffee and galletes and managed to secure a parking space on hwy1 near the Big Basin gate (Waddell beach parking is closed as is all beach access parking, so the hey overflow is maxxed). Chalk Mountain was our goal - 1600+ feet from sea level in about 6+ miles one way. Mile 2 - the Connector trail - was straight up. Feckin Santa Cruz stairmaster. Brutal.
We made it along a the Westridge trail for a few miles, which was spectacular yet steep at points. But we didn't make it to Chalk mountain. We ran out of time because I had to get to my mom's. And I was running out of steam. 10 miles, 171 floors.
We'll try again another day. We got another month now.
