Stephen Merchant directs this story about a family of wrestlers in Norwich England and their children who try and become wrestlers for the WWE in the United States.
On the one hand it's a promotional video for the WWE. On the other it's quite a moving story about people chasing their dreams and being told they might not be good enough to realize those dreams.
It's got a fairly good cast of secondary players including Nick Frost (you might have seen him on Badlands) Vince Vaughn and Lena Headley. Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson has an entertaining cameo. Vince Vaughn seems to be playing the same character he played in Hacksaw Ridge.
I spent a lot of the movie fearing for one character's demise.
It was better than I thought and not as funny as I expected because of the advertising.

So yes? Watch this?
You know me & ED are huge Nick Frost fans. I was offered a screener and a DVD promo but I passed on them because I was too busy for those at the time.

Sometimes I just can't get enough Nick Frost. This is a big fat ad for WWE. The Rock appears and also produced it. Based on WWE Diva Paige, Florence Pugh is takes on the role. Nick is her dad. Lena Headley is her mom. And Jack Lowdon is Zach, her brother. And Vince Vaughn is her tough ass coach.
It's really heartfelt - an outsider makes good story with an sort of sports story. With WWE behind it, they shot bits during matches. Florence is very good. Dwayne is at the top of his game, balancing his caricature and his 'acting' career. He's so at home here. Nick and Lena kill it. I'm such a Nick fanboy after having met him and Lena won me over in GoT although this character is very different than Circe (Nick is always the same). I don't care for Vince but he's good in this.
It's very predictable but still diverting. I did have a soft spot for Pro Wrasslin having fond memories of Cow Palace matches with ED & KB and Glow with Greg.
No sword fights but some nice suplexes. DOOM recommended.

Hmm, I saw this when it came out. I thought there was review....
****update****
Really tricky to find this one. I think it took me just long enough to type in Nick Frost. Had the exact same title. DM even posted on it.

Dammit. I did search but as you say, it evaded searches. Thanks for the merge.
Agreed that this was better and more moving than expected. It could've been funnier but the Nick and Lena stuff was pretty good. They had a good chemistry going.
I never saw Hacksaw Ridge.
Apparently this is based on a real life documentary. That's sounds intriguing but not enough to search it out.
