Same drill as always, but we won't have the mighty mighty Bad Ass Bunny covering it.
Nevertheless, I can use all manner of volunteers. Heck, I'd be delighted if some of you came as photographers. Or helped guard gates. Or just posed.

I've blocked out that weekend for volunteering.
I don't have cameras for video but I can be the 6'3" out-of-shape guy for security or whatever.

Thanks Ding!
It just struck me that Ding is a proper Chinese name. One of the top local wushu coaches is named Ding.
We’ll find something for you to do - whatever you please really. Without BadAssBunny, DOOM can run amuck.

I got a bad feeling about this year. TC is unfocused. Maybe it’s just me and I’m projecting. But given my head space, I’m just going to trust my survival reflexes.
At least it won’t be captured on video.
Any other DOOMers want to come out? Let me know ASAP.
ED, I’ll get ya set up. Thanks in advance.

Looking forward to it.
Things have gotten weird since Trump got elected. Not because of Trump, but it was bubbling under.
My feeling is that evangelical and core religious communities are starting to feel the trend of atheism=socialism in rural areas where their kids are moving to metropolitan/diverse/tolerant areas to find jobs/education.
This is resulting in a cornered animal reaction evident in Trump/pro-white majority rallies.
What does this have to do with Kung Fu tournaments? Nothing, unless you incorporate Chinese tariffs, travel bans and general racist policies.
I just want to save the tigers and watch little kids break boards.

It'll be good to have at least one more DOOMer in the house. Thanks for that, ED.
As for the current prez, it's having a profound effect on Tiger Claw. 80%+ of our product comes from PRC, plus the bulk of our merch is uniforms, which could be stung hard with a clothing tariff. We've already seen big price jumps. The other thing is that the Wulin crosses all political views, so there are so many trumpers in the martial arts. I actually love that aspect of the Wulin - it cuts across everyone. It's so diverse. So I deal with a lot of trumpers through work. Many are completely batshit crazy, but it's morbidly fascinating to see them show their asses. Almost every terrorist is involved in the martial arts somehow. Most of them are wannabe MMAers, but still, the general public doesn't distinguish.
Actually I'm looking forward to seeing everyone. That's always the best part. But I've lost my right-hand man, Chris. He left Tiger Claw and moved to Tahoe to help his dad, then he slipped on some ice and blew his knee really badly. That was months ago. He just got off crutches and is in PT. Chris was my roommate for the last few years and kept bumper car-ing me back on track when I started to veer off the road. Not sure who I'll have this year. Maybe Edgar. Maybe Mark Badgett. We shall see how it all comes together.
Tomorrow is the last Judges Meeting. Now it's all about TCEC at work for me. yay.

My workplace (Wind River) announced a new volunteer program today through Epoch.com.
Every employee is granted 16 hours of paid leave to volunteer with approved charity organizations.
I submitted Wild Aid as a charity organization and my time volunteering as eligible for comp hours.
If this is approved it not only means I get two additional days off but Wild Aid becomes a legit target for company volunteers.
I'm not sure if this will fly because this is not a strictly Wild Aid event but who knows.
TIA for a couple days off courtesy of Kung-Fu magazine if this goes through.

I could put you in direct contact with the Wildaid rep and you could volunteer for them for real. You’d still be part of my dragon Crew because Wildaid is one my dragon Crew list. I know she’s looking for volunteers.
Cool that you company offers this.

Heh - Enoch were super enthusiastic about adding WildAid as a volunteer opportunity. They just needed a page where people could view and sign up for events. Unfortunately, it looks like WildAid volunteering is invite-only so I may be S.O.L.
No worries, but if they do get bigger it would behoove them to have booths at multiple events providing volunteer opportunities to the general public.

They used to have more access. Tara & I volunteered to do a booth for Wildaid at some earth day event years ago. Wildaid is actually more of an international org - mostly India & China - even tho the hq is sf.
I don’t have they’re crew list yet so they might be open to more vols. Donavan was their vol from our crew years ago.

WildAid is actually looking for additional volunteers so they would love to have you help them out, ED. Right now, they have only 3, one of which is my main point of contact for this and I'm sure she'd be open to signing off on whatever paperwork you need for your job credit.
I've got you listed on my Dragon Crew as always, but if you're into it, I'll have you do some time with WildAid too. That way you won't have to deal with being security and maybe you'll get another shirt out of it. Let me know by early next week so I can let our WildAid rep know.

Reg is closed and we did okay - only a little under last year in the end and it won’t show. Load in crew is solid now with the back up of 3 good KF Bros, including cf (many thanks!) The only ointment fly is a major street closure for a street fair on Sunday. Info coming on that.

If it’s any consolation, TC now sees what a bargain Bad Ass Bunny offered over the past years, something I’ve been telling them from the get go and, of course, taking complete credit for because...
...well...
...it’s all about DM.
Taking over as YouTube videographer is the former TN graphic artist who married into the Oh clan (daughter Jenn). We call him Arse (1st syllable of his surname). He owned a comic book shop near De Anza that he just had to close. Once at a Tai Chi event in PA, he challenged DM claiming he was lagging in beer drinking. DM enjoyed listening to him vomit later that night. Good times.
It’s forecasted to rain this weekend.

I will be there very early. Parking is my Kryptonite. If I have to sit in my car for 2 hours I will choose that over parking stress.
