After a day in bed, I’m feeling better and might even be well enough to go back tomorrow, but I’m losing my desire to do so. I might just stay in bed all Memorial Day weekend.
I just cut off my wristband. It was making me angry. I cut it in a way where it could be reattached, but I doubt I’ll bother. I also deleted the Cali Roots app off my phone.
So ends Cali Roots 2018 for me. The one that got away.

Small enough regret, as far as regrets go, I think. Healing up is smart.
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

The flesh is weak. It’s been a brutal run, these past two months. I’m glad I cleared most of it, fulfilling my work & various obligations, and only collapsed in the homestretch. I was looking forward to Cali Roots as the reward for my efforts but now, staying in bed all weekend is the reward. That wouldn’t be so bad if I didn’t feel like crap.

I actually bought a CD. srsly. Maybe I should say I re-bought it. Usually I just trade out my CDs and DVDs and get something fresh but I actually paid ca$h money (a whoppin $5) for a used CD of Cypress Hill's Black Sunday. Because they're gonna play it on Sunday. At 4:20. Here at Cali Roots 2019. BS is one of my least fav CH CDs. I used to own it but traded it back at some point. Nevertheless, it's a goal for the next two weeks. Get to that Pattee bowl stage at CR for this.
Complicating issues is that RM has relinquished control of all of its camping shows, including CR. JAH Med has taken over CR, which has forced me into the position of doing a helluva lot more than I usually do for this show as a point person for the transition. Last night, I packed for CR and staged my gear because I'll only be home for Sunday night in between, what with TCEC this weekend (which I also packed for). It's like 4-dimensional packing. Pack first for TCEC, stage CR 4 JM, and then after that, D&C 4 RM, all the while juggling my mom's schedule while Stacy is away donating her skills to monastics at Tassajara Zendo for the week.
I know, I know, that's not nearly as much pressure as moving all my worldly possessions and my menagerie from HelLA to Ah!Whu?Ni!, but you know what? It's all about DM...

Something I missed last year...not a stellar version but I would've been amused. Made me think of the upcoming gear shift in 2+ weeks.

Locked & loaded. Tomorrow I'll head to work early, and then cut out as soon as I get my paycheck, which has been promised to me early. I'm pretty sure I got all my gear together this time. The only fail is my point-&-shoot camera battery died again and I won't be able to replace it in time so it'll be shot on my trusty iPhone.
The Doc and Nurse leads got on site this afternoon and have been texting me pix, trying to figure out where everything goes. Remember this is the first year for JAH Med, so they don't know the venue - it's all uncharted for them so we're vulnerable to raiders and squatters (real estate is always subject to an entry land grab at festivals).
On a random side note, DM poached an old Deadhead friend off RM to JM for this. She needed an LOR which DM provided, despite all the pressures of cleaning up TCEC and prompting the JM avante garde. She gratefully replied 'I love you. I'll be your chick slave all weekend!' DM also got some red envelope tribute at TCEC including some Js, plus that paycheck which should include some expense compensation. There was enough for a nice bottle of top shelf Powers. So let's see - cash, whiskey, herb, tent, gear, clothes, several knives, custom self-made laminates, salmon snacks, and a chick slave. Just no camera. Well, probably not good to take too many pix - less incriminating evidence.
Ya mon. Locked & loaded.
Bless my eyes dis mawrnin

Good point. Shoot 100 to get 1 good one.
I'll just have to make do with my iPhone again. And I'm way tight on storage.

Got in at 1pm and secured a nice nook under a tree.
Our camping area is severely chopped by stored tables and staff in general lost a huge chunk to vip glamping. Gwan b snug
Had our first Doc & g safety meeting which dm won with a 3 swallows limited edition single pot still Powers defeating a 10 year port cask tyconnelll and a port cask bourbon.

FRiday been good. Met Don carlos
I made the most $ in donations in the history of JM for one day. I didn’t get a medal tho. Or even my name on a plaque. It was like $130+ - I’ve Donne twcie that her for Rm.
Dm got a nice tuned pre roll
Dm - we take donations... anything green
Dude - I got brown
Dm - oh no. No brown
Dude - goooollllllden brown
Dm - um... what?
Dm is passed a baggie of shrooms with a stem as big as his thumb. It’s burning a hole is his pocket right now.
Glamping campground gets you a cool teepee, 2 large inflatable beds, power cord, small plastic table & 2 plastic chairs. $500 a nite. $1500 for the weekend. This replaced staff camping.
Don Carlos was Roots. An honor to shake his hand.
Steel Pulse was bassy. Got my franklins. Irie fun
Ben Harper was good but I wasn’t in he mood for slide guitar blues
Stick Figure is okay. Tara used to like them so it’s amusing to revisit some of their tunes.
Sun came out around 3? It was sunny until the end of steel pulse and it must’ve dropped 15 degrees when the marine layer rolled in.

What
Just
Happened
?
Dm is in the soundsystem yard and these two gorgeous fitness models in psychedelic onesies are in front. One broke her zipper which runs from collar to crotch - the other is kneel before her trying to fix it. It’s a captivating visual as they both have lingerie underneath and are dancing. One stops to explain. Dm offers his skelatool and the gal with the good zipper asks ‘do u want to try?’
