The Assignment
#1
After my self-loathing masochistic Rock binge (http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=4587  &  http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=4779), I needed a fat gob of ginger and wasabi to cleanse my palette of all that sour sushi.  If you haven't seen the trailer, the macguffin happens early and it's so Michelle Rodriguez that it hurts.  Lots of Michelle shooting up baddies.  Sigourney is plahing her villainess role, so second nature to her now, and Shaloub is his typical shaloubessness. It's Walter Hill - remember him?  He was a king of action back in the early 90s. This was a mess though. As much as I luv both actresses, and despite a few amusing moments, the concept was better than the execution.

I worked on a Walter Hill film, thank you very much.

A really good one. Okay, no. Supernova. Affectionately referred to as Stupidnova.

I still haven't seen that.  I saw that McKlusky film of yours, and I think that one counts extra.

Seriously, I don't think you are strong enough for the mental degradation you will suffer. Stay away.

Far be it for me to judge with my obviously questionable reviewing skillz.

I remember commercials for Supernova. Wasn't Sam Neill in that? He was turning up all over the place at about that time.

No Sam Neil. But Lou Diamond Philips, Angela Basset, James Spader

The funny thing about Netflix is that it keeps your ‘list’ when you resubscribe. I saw this title there and forgot I had seen it until I started it and the first scene felt vaguely familiar. Referencing my DOOMemories here, I realized I had seen it but didn’t remember a thing about it. But given my meh review, I bailed on refreshing my memory. I still don’t remember a thing about it.

It’s now removed from my Netflix list.

Thanks again DOOM - don’t know what I’d do without you.
