This popped up as a new show when I logged on to Netflix.
I started watching on a whim and became hooked.
It's a bizarre amalgam of Elvira + Muppets + Halloween wars.
This is basically a baking show for gruesome treats set in an "Addams Family" house. The hostess (Christine) delivers deadpan lines, impossible recipes and amazing craftsmanship to make amazing treats for her bloodthirsty pets.
It's deliciously dark and informative (if you are into using airbrushing and Dremel tools) about baking grotesque goodies.
It's very adult with lots of jokes about sex and murder.
I liked it.

Watched the 1st ep on your rec, ed. Amusing. I liked the cat.
The food creations are impossible however. So much friggin work, most of it off screen. And I find Christine a little stilted.
Not sure if I'll watch any more. I generally don't care for cooking shows. Not that that's what this is but that's the closest genre where I might put this.

What DM said. I watched it last night, too. I did not make it through the entire episode. I'm not buying a kitchen's worth of new tools so I can make pretzel bones once.
The cat was the best thing. Christine seems to be an imaginative cook but shouldn't be in front of a camera.

Heh - the next episodes she's using roto-tools and airbrushes.
Her stilted acting is what endeared me to the series. Kind of a "Bob Wilkins" vibe.
You guys are right, this is not a bake-at-home show. I just like to watch artists create stuff.

I could see the appeal there.
Maybe what we need on Man at Arms is puppets.
Or Elvira.
Yea, I’ll take Elvira.

My wife really likes this. I'm impressed by the work she does, but could live without the skits.

The Queen and I watched another episode of this show after The Queen recommended Nailed it. Nailed it is a show where complete amateurs are selected to bake objects that are completely beyond their skill set. I figured Christine was the antithesis to these people.
In the second episode there's a lot of jokes about ball gags which were amusing and totally unexpected. And she makes candles. The cat is still the best thing.

The cat is almost always the best thing, especially when it talks.

Lack of talking cat is the big failing of Sabrina. Full disclosure: I loved the original. Yes, it was silly, but innocently so (or apparently so).

Quote:The Curious Creations Of Christine McConnell Cancelled at Netflix
One season of Rankle the mummified cat is all we'll get, sadly.

Sad news for people who warmed to The Curious Creations Of Christine McConnell last year - there will be no season 2 at Netflix.
Christine broke the news herself over on Twitter, confirming that the series won't be returning for more episodes on the streaming service:

I’m very sad to say, I've been told there won’t be another season of The Curious Creations
Thank you to everyone who watched and has supported the series. Thank you to Henson, Wilshire, Netflix and the amazing people who made the show with me.
I'm so grateful ![[Image: 2764.png]](https://abs.twimg.com/emoji/v2/72x72/2764.png)

The Reddit and Instagram star pitched the concept to Netflix and Brian Henson of The Jim Henson Company quite a few years ago, and it was eventually picked up by Henson Alternative. The first season took quite a while to make, even with Christine doing a lot of the post-production work herself, likely because having puppets in the cast can be so arduous and tricky.
The show centred around Christine and the creatures she lived with embarking on various spooky baking projects, none of which you ever looked at and thought "easy, yeah. I could do that." The highlight of the show was objectively Christine's puppet pals and their often murderous adventures in her elaborate gothic house - resurrected raccoon roadkill Rose, mummified Egyptian cat Rankle, werewolf Edgar, and lurking basement horror, Bernard, all had their fans by the end of the six-episode run.
Sadly, this might be the last we'll see of them. Artist and photographer McConnell will no doubt carry on being as weird and as wonderful as ever, though, as she continues creating delightfully odd things for her expanding fan base.
