Who is this guy?

Hmm, two new users and neither one wants to sell me shoes. I don't trust it.

FrancisWebb & BenDierser - one of us, perhaps someone who writes fiction, could compile all these names into a story about shoe-selling bots and their inner lives.

A couple months ago I read a story in Fantasy & Science Fiction about this abandoned house in the suburbs.  People would break into it and then not be able to get out.  They'd step out the front door and find themselves in the living room.  They'd exit the back door and end up in the attic.  They'd climb out an upper story window and find themselves in the basement.  It was all a convoluted trap, engineered by aliens and placed here on Earth.

To what purpose?

I'm glad you asked.  There was a room full of shoes.  Expensive Nike's, Sauconys, Adidas.  All the top-of-the-line shoes with their fancy names.  The thing is, these shoes still had feet still in them, rotting.  Needless to say, this sort of freaked out the newly trapped humans.  Periodically a ghostly alien would appear and start sawing at one of their ankles (they were rendered immobile during the operation).  Yes, the aliens were fascinated by our shoes, and they had set this trap simply to collect more and more of them.

Right after reading this story, I wandered onto DOOM, and wouldn't you know it, we were having another "shoe ad" flare-up.  Makes you wonder.

So, DM, someone beat me to the shoelace.

Ah, the ol' tesseract trap.  You know, I once designed a tesseract trap as my original DM moniker, as a Dungeon Master in D&D.  It didn't play out well.  Nobody quite got it, but they did use there shoes to mark their trail, trying to figure it out. After the game, I had to explain tesseracts to my high school friends.

BTW, seen Cube?

I haven't seen Cube.  I just noticed it on Netflix recently and it reminded me of my D&D tesseract, just like this did.  Hold the phone...maybe I'm in a tesseract, trapped like in the D&D game/movie/F&SF story... There does seem to be references to shoes in each.  Curiouser & curiouser...

I saw Cube back in May: http://www.brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomFor...p?tid=4074

The characters really hurt it for me.  They were so melodramatic, fighting with each other over the least slight.  Artificial conflicts, so to speak, that ultimately overwhelmed the interesting premise.

There's a Cube 2 up on Netflix streaming as well.  Been tempted to check it out, see if it's a step up.

Well played, cf, well played indeed.  Dang, you even used the word 'sophomoric' (publisher to editor private joke from this morning)

I bow to your DOOM tesseract fu.

Ah, yes.  CoreyEva.  I woke up just as she was about to start sawing at my ankle.

Yes, I saw the siliconebabydolls.  I was thinking of getting some for our cat Halvah (she expressed an interest).  But then the post suddenly disappeared.

Halvah is now pouting, so I gave her a shoe to chew on, with the foot still in it.

Shoot.  Missed that one.  I'm lagging.  It must be all the superhero flix.  Spending too much time in my mild mannered disguise instead of being all Nerd King Buddy's End.  My bad.  Sorry.
