You see that kind of flashy crap by amateurs in competition sparring -- just before they get put away. At one tournament, I saw a guy sprint towards the opponent at the opening bell, do a high-flying tornado kick, and land hard on his side. He didn't get up. The ambulance with stretcher showed up 15 minutes later.

But this guy gets away with it. He's got that one extra flashy move. Actually, I suspect he's got one more flashy move after that, but hasn't needed it yet.

I pity his opponents. They've been taught to spar. You know, stand at a distance and tap away. This guy knows how to penetrate, commit with every possible combo, and punch and kick through the opponent.

I'm taking my gloves down off the wall.
At last a worthy opponent....

Meanwhile, Jackie Chan has taken a disciple. It was part of a hugely popular reality TV show in China called Jackie Chan's Disciple. Thousands auditioned (I was even asked to be a judge at one of two U.S. auditions). The final winner took formal disciple vows and the finale was held on the Great Wall last weekend. Now the disciple follows Jackie for several years as Jackie teaches him everything. All the final five all got movie deals. The kicker? The winner is Jack Tu, son of GM Tu Jin-Sheng, the iron crotch master.

And tapes that might be dubbed, subtitled or in English? Otherwise I need to learn a lot more Mandarin (Cantonese?) in a hurry.
