If you can't abuse the apostrophy, which punctuation mark can you abuse? The semi-colon? Nah, way too vulnerable already. The parenthesis? It would mess up your html code...

Actually I'm fascinated by the irregularities of the English language and its constant evolution. For instance, I'm a big proponant of replacing the word 'night' with the much cooler 'nite'.

What I find doubly fascinating is the almost purposeful deviation from the norm, almost as an act of rebellion. Like the Drunk Monk's misspelling of 'apostrophe', even though it is clearly presented in the subject line of this thread.

Good thing he's not involved in an industry where grammar and spelling are of any importance.

Long live the living language! Down with the oppression of legacy and tradition!

My world is Chinglish. In fact, in my world, it's often considered more authentic if it's spelt improperly. Only one other person in our entire office isn't ESL and she's on the other side of the building. We're lucky if we say two words to each other a month. Many of our freelancers are either brain damaged or ESL. cranefly will back me up on all the crazy grammer we have to deal with on a regular basis, and I've filtered it down for him so he doesn't implode. That being said, the only time I really focus on being gramatically correct is with the scant moments fo html I have to deal with and of course, legal stuff. Otherwise, it's an open field. We have this great mandarin to english translator program that coughs up new words all the time. Just ask cranefly about 'whist"
