Everyone one has outdoor cats. You just feed them.
It's like saying you have hobos because you gave some homeless dude your change.
You guys need another cat. Catch one of those ferals and tame it. That's what we did.
And there's no need to get over myself. I learned that from our cat.

Fergus would be in the house in a heartbeat if the dogs wouldn't eat him.
And we prefer the term Free range.

Huh. I have hobos. Who knew?
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

Free range hobos?
But back on topic, Shiva is belled - 4 bells - so she focuses on snatching chicks. We now think the weird cut she had on her leg may have been a bird peck. It didn’t look like a cat scratch.

So this week, it's just been me and Shiva because my family is on a backpacking trip to Desolation Wilderness. I'd be there too, but I don't have any vacation time to spare, what with our Europe vacation next month. Shiva came in last night with a mouse, after dark, right in the middle of a movie I was watching. I tried to grab her as she darted past but only caught her tail. It was like a Tom & Jerry cartoon - Shiva's mouth opened with a yelp and the mouse ran free into Tara's room. It may still be in there somewhere. There was no way I could catch it in the dark, what with all her stuff strewn everywhere (she's not quite sorted her things since moving back in). Should I tell her when she gets back?
Shiva was stalking in her room earlier, so maybe she'll recatch it. Or maybe it already found its way out. Or maybe it's dead in some dark corner of her room.

You know, that almost makes for a wonderful lower grade reading book. It's a whole lot more interesting than Dick and Jane and that damned red ball that gets tossed around. And yours ends on a note of genuine suspense, motivating the little whippersnappers to do further reading.

Luv that. Let’s continue.
Last night, Stacy woke to a growl. What growls? A possum! A possum in the bungalow! Leave possum leave. That cat food is not yours. It’s for cats. ‘Okay’ says possum and slowly walks away.
Shiva comes back. Into the bungalow. She doesn’t want food. Not because of possum. Because she’s caught a hummingbird. A hummingbird! How the fuk does she catch a hummingbird with four noisy bells on her collar? She is a ninja cat.
But what of Joe? The trap is still unsprung.
WHERE IS JOE?

Maybe you shouldn't have named her Shiva?

Have I mentioned that Roberta's relationship with Coco the cat is the perfect metaphor for Roberta's relationship with my mother? No matter how well Roberta treats the cat, at some point the cat is still going to bite her.

She came from the shelter with the name 'Dawn'. I nicknamed her 'Shiva' once we got to know her. That stuck.

Shiva does that too. Cats are just so. Especially cats of DOOM.

Where is Joe?
We don't know.
Did he go?
He has yet to show.
Where is Joe now?
Maybe gone, but how?
Shiva is his foe.
She doesn't know.
Where oh where is Joe?
