Dune (again)
#46
I’m thinking I should rewatch the Lynch version. I remember not liking it all that much but there were some distinctively lynchian scenes that really stuck with me. All those weren’t from the book.

KB- Very good. It's been since the 70s since I read the book so I only remember vague bits of it.

As for the Lynch version of the movie, I don't remember much of that either. Although, I do remember Scapino was furious at much of it.
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Sure, there’s been plenty of official Barbie crossover figures in the history of the brand, but I don’t think we’ve ever seen one as awesome as this one! Meet the 1984 Barbie Dream Sandworm!

Not my intention. Nope. Hard pass.

But it does remind me of Diner.

I rewatched Dune (part one). It took me two attempts because last night I fell asleep about fifteen minutes in and was nodding in and out for the next hour until I finally bailed and went to bed. I started over tonight.

I still like the design and ambition of it. I’ve always liked the concept of the force field suits that can only be penetrated by slower moving objects, like slowly drawn blades. It justifies swords over guns and that just works for me. Overall I enjoyed the rewatch as there was much I had forgotten, and the visuals are cool, even if it was heavy handed at points.

The Star Trek connection weirded me out. Lynch’s version (David not Greg) had Picard as Gurney Halleck.  Villanueve’s film has Dr M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) as Janis. That’s weird.

I am ready for Part 2, although I’d still like to rewatch the Lynch version. It keeps waffling from being free on Amazon Prime to being a rental.

Good for her.

I was more impressed by her C3P0 outfit.
