Chen Tang just followed me on Instagram. He's Hong, one of my favorite characters of the new season (he's also Yao in the new Mulan). I hope all of the Warrior cast starts following me, but I give tonight's ep 2 our of 5, same with next week, so I'm not tagging them all right now. I just tagged Chen because this is his debut episode and we chatted a little about his chain whip on his gram.

Yeah, that first line doesn't parse. Did you give Ep 2 2 out of 5 stars or something?
Kudos on getting followed by the star.

Yeah, sorry. 'our' should be 'out' and I have to rate each ep on a 5 star scale.
I also made an embarrasing typo in that review but hopefully it's being corrected now.
I'n writing too much too fast and unlike here, I don't have the benefit of editors (I do have some fierce editors for Den but they're moving fast too so this one just got by them). KFM worries me the most but thankfully, it's the web and editing can be done after publication.

Kieran play O'Hara, the veteran Irish cop with a gambling habit. That's him in the gif in a scene from Season 1, I think...

Both Perry Yung (Father Jun) & Chen Tang (Hong) liked my feature piece of the Riot of 1877. The episode reviews don’t pay well and it took me a long time to fall into the rhythm of writing those, but the supplementary features pay as full articles and are much more interesting to write (at least they were for Warrior.
Just one more review and a supplementary feature to go next week and we’re done. Been a good run. I learned a lot & made some bank, so it’s all good.

Well, tonight was the season 2 finale, and possibly the end of the series as Cinemax has cancelled all original content. Maybe HBO Max will pick it up, but they seem to already have their hands full. I didn't tune in. I did watch a little of Olivia Cheng's IG live chat.
I wrote 16 articles on this show - I'm not sure if that tops my coverage of Man at Arms: Art of War and Into the Badlands or not. My editor at Den of Geek split my final episode review into two parts - one being the review and the other being about the potential of a season 3, and I have one more feature that'll probably drop tomorrow, so there will be 17 total.
Warrior was a pretty good ride for me. I see a lot of cast and azn celebs not related to the show getting these Warrior gift boxes. Those look cool. Wish I got one, but at least I got paid - just shy of $1K when all is said and done.

I owe a lot to this show. It provided some much needed funds when I really needed them.

Looks like it is time for an update. Now, with more Mark Decascos.

[*]Fans of the martial arts drama Warrior are getting their patience rewarded: Production on Season 3 has begun at last, as confirmed by HBO Max on Wednesday.
[*]The update comes 15 months after Warrior was renewed for Season 3, and 19 months (!) since its sophomore finale aired. (The show previously aired its first two seasons on Cinemax, but relocated to HBO Max after Cinemax ceased production on original programming.)
Based on the writings of martial arts legend Bruce Lee, Warrior takes place during the brutal Tong Wars of San Francisco’s Chinatown in the late 19th century. Returning cast members include Andrew Koji as Ah Sahm, Olivia Cheng as Ah Toy, Jason Tobin as Young Jun, Dianne Doan as Mai Ling, Kieran Bew as Bill O’Hara, Dean Jagger as Dylan Leary, Tom Weston-Jones as Richard Lee, Hoon Lee as Wang Chao, Joe Taslim as Li Yong, Langley Kirkwood as Walter Buckley, Perry Yung as Father Jun, Chen Tang as Hong, Miranda Raison as Nellie Davenport and Dustin Nguyen as Zing.
Additionally, Warrior has cast Mark Dacascos (Hawaii Five-0) and Chelsea Muirhead (Canada’s Slo Pitch) as new series regulars for Season 3. Dacascos will play Kong Pak, the former leader of a newly absorbed, Long Zii-affiliated tong and Li Yong’s old friend and mentor, while Muirhead will play Yan Mi, the unassuming but shrewd daughter of a local print shop maker based in Chinatown.
Season 3, spanning 10 episodes, is slated to make its HBO Max debut in 2023.

Yup. Remember meeting him at the Shaolin Summit. BTW, the Shaolin Summit was produced by my other boss - the founder of Immortal Studios. That was the connect.
I hoped to put Mark on the cover. His mom, Malia, lives in San Jose. LCF did a story on her. But alas, we ran out of time...

Total yay. I made a good chunk of change off this show. And I’m excited to see what S3 brings. It’s very entertaining.

S3e1 starts out with a fine rumble. Hop Wei v Long Zii - the two leading tongs which means Koji v Taslim. Very satisfying. It digs right in to all the story arcs from the end of s2 as if there was no season break.
E2 shows Brett Chan (the 2nd unit director aka fight choreography) appearing as a rival tong head. More entanglements setting the tone of this season’s arcs. Some more fights but they’re a bit in the shadows obscuring the action. Lots of thrown axes & knifes. That’s come a long way with cgi.
E3 picks up the gay stories - Davenport & Ah Toy, Hong & a singer he picks up at a club. Lai comes into play - she’s the ultimate sword hawty but here she fights with sickles some more nice fights. Taslim can really move. Love seeing his work.
Max only gave me the first 3 eps. Wish there were more. I don’t have HBO max right now.
