The Chariots of DOOM

I just got a call from Tara. Phoebe has been stolen. Oh my poor daughter. She’s only had it a week. So heartbreaking.

Well, fuck. Poor Tara. Poor Phoebz. They are crazy popular to steal.

Yes Civics are often rated as the most popular to steal. She’s back at her apartment now. The non-emergency police reporting is closed until morning.

Kathy Krusen had a car that was, um, *popular* for that sort of thing. SHe finally just took the distributor cap out every night when she parked it

We’ve never had a car stolen. The door lock didn’t work tho so it got rifled a lot. Stacy had her massage table stolen once.

Hoping it just got towed. That happened to me once. Parked in a way that partially blocked a driveway when the dead were in town.

We kept my club lock in the civic. I don’t know if Tara used it. We didn’t use it all the time.

This is freaking me out. I’m going to try to sleep soon now. I’m recovering from the weekend working in Denver still and this our deadline period for the mag. I’ve been looking forward to getting a good nights sleep tonight since Sunday. So much for that. I had just drifted off when Tara called.

One of those things about being a parent - I feel Tara’s victories and defeats so acutely. We’re so heartbroken. Things were going so well for her. This reminds me of when our cat Redbell died suddenly when she was studying abroad in Oaxaca.

Godsmmit. I’m tweakin hard on this. I can’t fucking sleep. FML.

Imagine losing your first car after less than two weeks of getting it. Poor Tara. It’s just soul crushing.  I feel like my guts have been ripped out. We haven’t told Stacy yet. No use all of us losing sleep tonight.

Oh crap.  That is so bad in so many ways.  Hoping it ends up being a tow.  The lesser of two evils.  But I'm sensing not.

We talked and texted but I’m not sure of all the details. We’re both distraught. She has her roommates and some friends supporting her and I told her to call again if she needs. We’ll touch base tomorrow morn.

I don’t know if she parked it somewhere where it couldve been towed or how long it was there. That was my last text question to her - she was planning to go to sleep so hopefully her anxiety will allow that.

FWIW, assure her that it happens all the freakin’ time and is no reflection on her stewardship of Phoebe. It will likely turn up in the next 24-48 hours.

She is safe and with friends...I hope you can rest.

I’m at my mom’s tonight. Tomorrow is my telecommute from here day - got to close the issue remotely and pump out a review and report, plus get my mom set up for the week. I’ll be here tomorrow night too so I wont see Stacy until Thursday. She leaves on a yoga retreat this weekend

I have to cover another tournament this Saturday - an all day affair with a damn night show - in concord. Sunday I pack for comic-con so I’ll see Tara Wednesday and be with her for the weekend.

We’ve both been really looking forward to sdcc. I hope this doesn’t put too much of a damper on that.

That’s great that you can see her on Wednesday and have the weekend together.

I got a sleep cycle in but still feel exhausted. My limbs are vibrating and my stomach is off from the adrenaline which kicked in as soon as I regained consciousness. Tried to get back to sleep.

Now in a weird limbo - waiting for Tara to wake up so we can follow up with the cops, Stacy & processing.

This so sucks.

Cops? How do the cops play a role in this?
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Non-emergency cop phone was closed last night, so reporting it stolen this morning.

Phoebe has been recovered.  She had been towed.  We're trying to figure out why.  Tara may have overstayed a 2-hour time limit, but not by much.  At least the car is okay.  What a terrible night.

I must have skipped some posts and missed the main story.
