Star Wars Episode 7: The Force Awakens
#16
I interviewed Darth Maul yesterday. It was a quick phoner, but they are trying to set me up with a meet-&-greet next Tuesday, as he is throwing the opening pitch for an A's game. I might have an extra ticket for that - let me know if anyone might be interested. It's a promo for the BRD/DVD release of G.I. Joe.

Sure, sure, I could have posted this on the G.I.Joe thread as it's really for Snake Eyes, a sword-wielding ninja no less, but Ray Park will always be Darth Maul for me.

If you are staying for the game I'm interested (A's are #2 in the American League) but if it's just a single seat in the concrete hell of Overstock Stadium then I'll pass. The A's are a great team this year but that place is terrible.

Join me and we will rule the galaxy like... oh wait.

I don't know if I have two tickets yet or what the deal is exactly. The rep is working on hooking it up. If you want to go with me, meet Darth Maul, and watch the game, I'm in. I may not stay all the way through to the 9th, depending how the game goes, and I'm bailing quick if it goes to extra innings, but for the pleasure of your company, I'd totally hang.

Let me find out what is up with these passes. It might be a last-minute thing before I know for sure. I'll keep you notified.

I have two tickets at Will Call. We will be seated in some press section with two Warner reps. I have their cell numbers. They say we should get there early for the meet&greet.

6:55pm – First Pitch by Ray Park (Snake Eyes)
7:05pm – start of game against the Blu Jays

ED - when you could get there? Hit my back, bro. Let's do this!

So I'm posting this here for safekeeping. I have the perfect KFM thread to post this on later, when it's back up again.

Quote:Disney to Reveal ‘Ambitious’ Theme Park Plans for ‘Star Wars’

The big tease of what Disney has planned for “Star Wars” inside its theme parks continues 11 months before “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” flies into theaters.

Disney chief Bob Iger told Wall Street analysts that there’s “a fair amount of design and development (taking place by the company’s Imagineers) to greatly increase ‘Star Wars” presence in multiple locations around the world,” shortly after the Mouse House announced another strong financial quarter. “The plans are ambitious, so it’s going to take some time for them to be built and opened.”

While Iger said specific plans would be announced “later in 2015,” the executive already had announced “significant” plans for the franchise for which it paid George Lucas $4 billion in 2012. He also has said whatever new attractions are announced, they will be based on future films in the series, as well as its spinoffs. Several Disney parks currently include an updated version of the “Star Tours” attraction.

In a separate interview with Bloomberg Television, Iger said, “Fairly soon, I’m sure we’ll be ready to go public with some specifics. But it’s safe to say that you’ll see a lot more ‘Star Wars’ at Disney and at Disney parks in the near future.”

Disney has announced that its Disney Cruise Line will introduce a "Star Wars Day" into their vacation packages starting in 2016. According to StarWars.com, the "Star Wars Day at Sea" will take place on Disney Fantasy cruises that start on Jan. 9, Jan. 23, Feb. 6, Feb. 20, March 5th, March 19, April 2 and April 16.

All the cruises depart from Port Canaveral, Fla., and will visit Cozumel, Mexico, the Cayman Islands and Castaway Cay, a private island in the Bahamas owned by the Mouse House itself.

What does the "Star Wars Day at Sea" entail? Here's a list of features:

Character meet and greets with Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Boba Fett and others
The Jedi Training Academy
Star Wars trivia games
Arts and crafts for kids
Night clubs decked out as the Mos Eisley cantina with music, characters, cocktails and more
Screenings of the first six films
Screenings of episodes of Star Wars Rebels

In addition, each cruise will have Star Wars celebrities on board for Q&A and autograph sessions, along with a nightly deck party including fireworks, Star Wars music, guest character appearances and more.

A promotional video can be seen below. For more info, including booking, go to the Disney Cruise official site. It may not be a trip from one side of the galaxy to the other aboard the Millennium Falcon, but does this sound like your kind of boat ride?
