Via con queso, my brother. May all the charges be dropped and the damage cheaply repaired.

Go with cheese? Easy cheese? Or perhaps that should be via con budin (pudding)?

A decade later and another DOOMer goes to SDCC.
This is the 50th. I had a choice about going to the 50th Oregon Country Fair or SDCC 50. But this included Tara, so it was a no brainer. I was transferring old photo files from my iPhone to my laptop via gmail to make room for the app and gmail cut me off. Said I was transferring too many files. WTH?
The SDCC website is a freakin maze. I can't get my head around all the activities. I have two friends presenting on panels that I'm hoping to make. I'd love to get into the Star Trek presentation, but that's a big one.
My connection who got us the pro passes said last year, he waited for 9 hours to get into the GOT exhibit. He almost got shut out. And he thought it was worth it. This is supposed to be my vacation and I feel strangely overwhelmed.
I have several media friends there but I'm not making any plans to meet up. If it happens, it happens. The focus is just going to be navigating this scene with Tara.
Any tips ED?

@sjc again. Two weeks ago, I wore a dead shirt hoping to coattail on the Dead&Co shows. Now I’m wearing a KFM shirt and I’m surrounded by Asians in nerd shirts, clearly sdcc50 bound.
When I land, I’m heading directly to the con center for the pro preview, meeting Tara somewhere outside. She sent a list of presentations she’s interested in. I’m not overly attached but will shoot for Star Trek, MCU & the 2 panels I have friends on. I’ve got some reporter friends there already - peeps I met in the Badlands (no Emmy nod for action again? Srsly?) Also have several martial arts women trying to be seen, including my cast mate Crystal. It’ll be funny if we cross paths.
I’ve secured ‘skip the line’ passes to the Amazon Prime thang. Expanse anyone?

I'm all for the Expanse. They brought one of the Rocinante sets to the Con.

That was just the preview? Insane. Overwhelming. Exhausting. Navigating it in full backpack was good prep for Yosemite in sep.
Now at Tara’s apt hanging with her mates and reuniting with Shiva. The apt is nice but next to a street so noisy. But possibly bigger than our bungalow.
Tomorrow is the amazon prime experience bright & early. Then more exploring. Got invited to the den of geek private party tomorrow eve.
Already scored my section 31 badge plus an exclusive st: Disco badge. Enough Trek. Boldly gone. Tomorrow Expanse et al.

The jealousy is great. Except for the fighting the crowds bit. You can keep that.

The crowds are mammoth. That was just the preview for those with a pro pass. I can hardly imagine what today will be like. They anticipate 150K. It’s a really confuddled crowd - out of shape, some unwieldy cosplayers, lots of ADA, fans carrying tons of swag.
I hear yesterday was all about IT2. Whole cast showed.
Today is amazon prime, then maybe panels on cobra Kai & Kung fu superhero extravaganza, maybe den of geek party. Right now I’m cuddling with Shiva. We missed each other. She loves the Cruz feather I brought her.

... iron fist
Yeah, I wuz diplomatic. It was an unofficial chat.
The party was fun. Open bar. Nice swag bag. Desserts. Appetizers. A pot dispensary was a sponsor and gave us an amusing swag bag. We hung out for an hour plus. It was good to see my old friend from the Badlands again.
Most of the morning was spent in the amazon prime experience. We got access the the front of the line, but there were more lines inside. Lots of snacks. A huge tower with crappy choreographed fights from the shows. Did Carnival Row (new fantasy show immigrant metaphor) and Expanse (massive reveal on where S4 will go plus they gave us super cool Expanse cups - best swag so far). Skipped the Boys because it was lunch time and we didn’t get breakfast.
Went outside for Indian buffet. Walked the artist booths, all quite good. Sat in on a Nancy Drew panel just to sit. Skipped Cobra. Did some of the Kung Fu extravaganza but just couldn’t stand Ric Meyers.
7.4 miles 20,298 steps.
