DM's quest for work
Yay!
As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

YAY!!!!!
In the Tudor Period, Fencing Masters were classified in the Vagrancy Laws along with Actors, Gypsys, Vagabonds, Sturdy Rogues, and the owners of performing bears.

That seems an appropriate (and long overdue) use of the F-word.

Let this all work out well and good.

Congratulations! Is your connection with them the reason some Tai Chi group keeps coming up in my Instagram feed?

I doubt it. You'd have to tell me which group though.

I'm back on a salaried position. Yay. I won't have to worry about reporting hours and I'll get off Unemployment with the next round. However, I'm earning a fraction of my previous pay and since medical doesn't kick in for 6 months, well, that's a huge expense.

I'm not sure if I'm putting this thread to bed now. I'm still on a quest for work. Perhaps I'll always be.

But at the very least, I have a little more security now than last week, as well as goals to work towards within a stable company. YMAA shares its financial reports with its staff. There are only about half a dozen of us full-timers. I'm not sure my previous companies even did financial reports. There were certainly no graphs or analyses.

Just use a better profile pic than a couple of the ones on there

meh. my profile pix are silly.

On a side note, another side hustle submission just got accepted. I'm delighted because it's a prestigious pub for me and it'll be translated into Korean. It'll drop around St. Patrick's Day.

On another side note, Immortal Swordsman made its Kickstarter Goal today. It launched this morning, aspired to $10K and already is past $11K.

I'm not in the loop on this one yet. I'm not sure if I will be tapped or not. I'm seeing the art for it at the same time the public is seeing it. And I can already see some Kung Fu inaccuracies.

We shall see...

I am officially off unemployment.

I think...

...I clicked the 'turn off' button that I've been so wanting to click all last year. Hopefully that's all I need to do.

...feckin EDD is a nightmare. While disenrolling, I noticed that I've been doing something in error all last year. They still paid me out until early this year when I was making too much with all of my freelance gigs to qualify for any reimbursement. I still had to go through the application however, to keep it rolling forward. I don't think I'll get any more payments. It was all about timing of when the checks came in. My TC payment was regular. My YMAA payment became almost regular. My other side hustles came in whenever they came in. If they all landed on the same week, I wouldn't qualify for unemployment compensation. If it was a light week, then I might get some money back.

I'm glad that this is done. I hated being on EDD, not only because I hated being unemployed but also because it forced me to jump through user-unfriendly online bureaucracy every two weeks.

I cashed in my last EDD payment yesterday. It had been sitting on the debt card that EDD issued. I just needed to stop by the bank and transfer it to checking.

I'll wait a while until I cut and chuck that card and delete the app off my phone. The card has a nice pic of Yosemite on it.

I still have some unemployment left. I made enough with all my hustles on some weeks that prevented me from collecting every week. Despite my complaints about the absurdly cumbersome website, I'm satisfied with how unemployment worked. It literally saved my ass. Good ol' socialism.

Now I feel that I can officially put this thread to bed.

Yay!
