We have AC again, and we have brisket. With luck, life will be less interesting for a little while. Please.
Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

I woke up in the middle of the night to a terrible noise. My heart stopped as I thought it was the AC unit grinding itself to death yet again.
Turns out it was Dani snoring at the foot of the bed. The neck donut does something to the air passage in her throat to make her snore incredibly loudly.

I remember once Hazel howled in her sleep and just about gave me a heart attack.

The Queen has alerted me she will be returning home on Wednesday from her business trip, which I knew, but will now be leaving on Friday for another business trip on Friday. It seems there is an emergency in Madison.
I guess I will be seeing more Baahubail after all.

To be fair, it is not all darkness and despair here at the Lair. This morning the dogs did join me on a short walk around the neighborhood. Maeve is much more energetic than Dani, but both still came. When I got back to the house, it was time to water the yard. This gives the outdoor cats an opportunity to follow me around. I had at least five with me. The dogs are outside in the front yard with me as well, just sitting and looking around.
As I was wrapping up this morning, I noticed Fainí watching something on the other side of the cul-de-sac. I followed her gaze and saw one of the neighbors cows was out. I thought I wouldn't get any more visitors because those neighbors had fixed all their fences. I guess it's an ongoing problem. Best of all it was Lady Bob, who was a frequent visitor from last year. Lady Bob because her ear tag reads 808. When I went closer I saw she had brought a friend, Agent 001. The cows eventually came onto the property. They were kind enough to eat some grass that I was planning on cutting. They tried the roses but those weren't to their liking. Eventually I hear Richard the neighbors 4x4 racing up the street. I alerted him to the cow presence. I stopped calling him about the cows because they really aren't a problem for me. But Richard was a bit mad. Agent 001 gets out all the time more so than Lady Bob. Richard did look at me funny when I referred to his cow as Lady Bob. I did notice on Richard's 4x4 ATV that he had a gun holster and mentioned this to him. I guess there is a mountain lion in the area and it ate a few of his newborn calves. The cow problem was quickly sorted as Richard shooed his cows home. Ah, the excitement of country living.

Can that 808 cow throw down a beat? Maybe with some cowbell?

And what are the Lynches doing for mountain lion defense?
This is a serious question. Mountain lions were an issue at Mt Mad where Tara went to high school. There were times when mountain lions were sighted, and safety protocols were enforced up there. The odds of one of you getting mauled are slim, but your cats are vulnerable. We've had a mountain lion get treed about a mile or two away a few years back. And we're no where near as desolate as you.

I know not to run away from them. Then I become a giant cat toy.

At the moment, I'm a cat slave. It would be a step up to be a cat toy.

Next time Richard comes by in his 4x4, maybe you should call his vehicle a half-Bob. You know. To totally screw with his head.

Hello darkness, my old friend.
Well the wind has been blowing like crazy since this morning. I guess it finally took down the power lines.

We lost power last night. I only know because my digital clock was flashing a random time. I have a power buffer on my Mac that will keep it on for a half hour of reserve power and it didn’t go off last night so the outage was less than that.
Hope the Lynch lair generator is going strong…
