10 down, 2 to go. Loving this show. Finally Star Wars delivers a message. The franchise has been solely space opera but now it launches into social commentary. And I disagree with tg’s comment about this being about the French Revolution - it’s about us, as in the U.S. I’m impressed with the foresight - the stormtrooper ICE agents searching farmers hit close to home especially considering that the production time of this was long before ICE came into play. When the Ghorman senator gets forced out by stormtroopers, it foreshadowed Padilla perfectly. It’s so dark, so much death and sacrifice. Enough to inspire the fandom to act? Most of the reveals have been predictable but not the death count. I knew they were after khyber not whatever mineral they said they were after because 1. The Death Star khyber crystal was a major story arc in Rebels and 2. We know Cass’ ultimate fate. In that way, it plays out a bit like ST:SNW because there, we all know Capt. Pike’s fate. Beyond the story and dark mirror into our present political landscape, what’s really impressing me is the cinematography. It’s subtle yet complex, showing off the architecture of this new world expansion.
I’ll probably finish this tomorrow night.
