Thought this was a movie but it’s a 16 hour long episode series; only the first & are available now.

Stacy read the book and was very moved by it. She says that it feels like she remembers it so far. I’ve never read any Márquez.ive only seen the film version of Love in the Time of Cholera and that left quite an impression on me. Several scenes are still stuck in my mind. This feels similar, that magic realism vibe with the Latin American sensibility.

We only watched the first ep. It’s exhausting and intense. The opening scene was so harsh - the blood, the sheets, the ants. I love its surreality where ghosts and magic feel real. There was a fantastic oner shot of this nekkid boy running through Macondo. The panoramic scenes of the jungle and swamp are beautiful and the cast is strong.

Going to watch this one slowly, one ep at a time. It’s a lot to take in.
