Let It Be
Get Back was cobbled together from the cuttings of Lindsay-Hogg's documentary by Peter 'milk the crap out of LotR' Jackson. The restored version of the original doc begins with Jackson interviewing Lindsay-Hogg in a very stilted, probably scripted 5 min chat. Then the restored doc plays.
The original doc is fairly solid if you're a Beatles fan. There's some candid moments. It's not as complicated as what Jackson did with Get Back because it's only an hour and a half. The tensions are there, but not nearly as transparent as in Get Back. I got the sense that Lindsay-Hogg was floundering, in damage control mode, for the first hour of it. Then for the end, he wisely just defaults to the music. There's great complete versions of Let It Be and Long and Winding Road with Paul staring deep into the camera, and then that historic rooftop concert. I was enthralled, mostly because I love the Beatles, and it's great to see them for their last ride, when they were blazingly creative, churning out some of the finest hits at the end.
