Christina put this on since the original is one of her favorite animated Disney films. I like it too, and of the pre- computer animation Disney films, I'd say the original is one of the best.
But this - was terrible. It seemed to move at a snail's pace. I think part of that is due to it being live action, and trying to up the drama with pauses and slow dialogue, and part of it was the too-common problem of lingering over the CGI scenery to show it off. They also introduced two new songs with lyrics by Lin-Manuel Miranda. The lyrics were okay but the tunes were not catchy. And there's a whole "uncanny valley" problem with the talking crab, fish and seagull. They just didn't work. Neither did "Under the Sea" for the same reason. Javier Bardeem was King Triton and didn't fit. Melissa McCarthy was Ursula and was weak in comparison to the original. At this point I'm pretty tired of her anyway.
