I found it amusing but after the buy in of having pistols nailed to his hands, I was willing to run with the ultravi. I mean honestly, that’s a dumb concept, so if you’re going to watch a film with such a fundamental absurdity, you’re watching for the ultravi. It had a tongue-in-cheek quality which made it work, especially with HP. I do like Radcliffe and I felt he carried off the role, as ridiculous as it is, well enough to keep it amusing.
Samara Weaving (Hugo’s daughter) was good as Nix too. I liked how it became a twisted buddy movie in the end. It delivers some fine sanguineousness, although not much that original or fresh. The swirling camera work was good in the beginning but got a little annoying later. It was clearly imitating video game style with its cinematography, which only worked marginally for me because I’m not a gamer. The fight choreo was fair, good enough to set up the copious blood squirts.
I was very amused to hear the Cypress Hill tune after just watching the CH documentary. http://brotherhoodofdoom.com/doomForum/s...p?tid=7776 ‘when the shit goes down…’ luv that tune.
Mostly I watched this because of Natasha Liu Bordizzo (Sabine in Ashoka). She plays HP’s gf with brightly colored hair. I thought she was quite good in the hapless gf role.
Only recommended for D00M bros who like a little of the ol’ ultravi. This is a hearty helping of that.
