Today is the Hungry Ghost Festival, the full moon in the middle of Ghost Month, when we Chinese honor our dead. It's a lot like Dia de los Muertos, only no sugar skulls, just a lot of burning of stuff. We burn offerings to the dead - joss - incense and paper money, paper effigies of cars, computers, cell phones - I just read where there are even paper filter masks now as if the dead need to worry about the 'rona.
We also have Qingming, or Tomb Sweeping Day, when we burn a lot of this stuff too. That's two weeks after Spring Equinox. The difference is for Qingming, the living visit the dead and for Hungry Ghost, the dead visit the living.
