DAY 14. "Let's climb a mountain!" Stacy and I have been eyeing this trail for a while. We hit Companion for coffee and galletes and managed to secure a parking space on hwy1 near the Big Basin gate (Waddell beach parking is closed as is all beach access parking, so the hey overflow is maxxed). Chalk Mountain was our goal - 1600+ feet from sea level in about 6+ miles one way. Mile 2 - the Connector trail - was straight up. Feckin Santa Cruz stairmaster. Brutal.
We made it along a the Westridge trail for a few miles, which was spectacular yet steep at points. But we didn't make it to Chalk mountain. We ran out of time because I had to get to my mom's. And I was running out of steam. 10 miles, 171 floors.
We'll try again another day. We got another month now.
