Yeah, I've been thinking that this one would hurt for some time. It would certainly be devastating to me. The thing is, it's in the festival's best interests to ensure that their choices get shown. So they should make damned certain that a silence to their "accepted" checkmark actually means no.
I really get the feeling that the person(s) responsible are taking a defensive stance, not wanting to admit they made a mistake, that they did a piss-poor job. Sure, they can point to the minimum requirements of reporting results to withoutabox, and they can dance like some damned fool on the tip of his self-righteousness clown nose. But they ought to know they're dealing with artist types, who, in my experience, are sometimes very busy, juggling lots of stuff, and they're not robot CEOs conducting mundane business.
I'm boycotting everything that they show at Melbourne this year. I may not be as powerful as a butterfly in the Cretaceous whose life or death causes a pebble to displace by a centimeter over six million years, but I do have a modicum of influence, and I intend to wield it like a pony who belongs to no one!

I'm nobody's pony.
