It was a fukkin waste of over an hour. They weren't helpful and told me to contact Cobra. I've reached out to TC because they said they set up me up with 18 months worth. TC has been pretty good about it all - it's their agent that's a tad sloppy. But we'll see. I'm sure he's under pressure with everything. He did get me sorted in the end last time, and sorted well.

When I drove up to my mom's. her newspaper was in the driveway. She's really good about picking up her newspaper every morning, so much so that her good neighbor uses it as a check and calls me when she doesn't (only happened once for T-day a few years ago when we had picked her up and brought her to the Cruz before the paper came). He's away however for the week.

It made me wonder if this was the day. 

But it wasn't. For some reason, she got two papers today. She already read the first one.

All was going okay until about lunch, then everything got weird. So many bothersome issues. Nothing major on its own but in combination, it was all overwhelming. I'm frustrated and exhausted.

Took my Mac like an hour to find my scanner. I just used a week ago. It was a lot of unplugging and rebooting. 

Why did it stop working? IDK

Why did it start working again? IDK

Merc is killin me in these last few days. It ends tomorrow thankfully.

Kaiser terminated our health insurance. We don’t know why. We were supposed to have cobra until next year.

Finally got this fixed. We're back on Cobra. The agent kept saying "You get September free." I gave up trying to explain to him that it was already October and we weren't covered since August. Just give us what you said you'd provide in writing. Such unnecessary stress. Such was the last Merc-n-Ret for 2021.

And so it begins.

My interviewee never showed to our Zoom meeting and there's been no communication since this morning when he was confirming the zoom link. He's in Boston, so maybe they got knocked out by climate change. Hey, I survived a tsunami to make it. No excuses.

Stacy saw our neighbor carted off in an intervention. His girlfriend (mother. of his son) who gets me the fresh eggs hasn't been around for a week or so. There's been a lot of traffic - guys going in and out of the house - friends of our neighbor. They just took him away, hopefully to somewhere where he can heal. 

Actually, it began with the tsunami but I didn't realize what was happening then. It's not every day you wake up to tsunami alerts...

I was wondering why my schedule has been doing somersaults like a gymnast on crack...

Scheduling and communication are the most chaotic during Merc-n-ret and I'm feeling it. I have telemeets every day of the week next week, above and beyond my usual barrage of work telemeets. I'm doing an interview and getting interviewed, plus there's a committee meeting. Plus there are two medical appointments and more remaining to be scheduled (none for me tho). 

gymnast on crack. at least I don't have to smell that crack poop. if it offends yetis, it must be pretty awful. then again, so is the smell of gangrene.

My neighbor across the street is losing it. He's the raging alcoholic surfer. His girlfriend, who I used to get the freshest organic eggs from (they have 30 chickens) left with their son a few weeks ago when he fell off the wagon. There's been a bunch of guys trying to support him - they took him away earlier this week - but now he's just yelling 'get the fuck away from me.' 

We're neighbors but not really friends. We've talked - after his last 'recovery' he came by with the standard AA apology and I've offered what help I could. Now I don't have the bandwidth. Hopefully his circle can corral him before he hurts himself or someone else.

He came over and sat on our veranda as Stacy practiced piano. He made some rambling comments like 'a now for the big finale' or something like that. I didn't hear it. I've been trying to work in back. 

We think he came over just to hear Yuki sing. 

Hopefully music soothes the savage alcoholic neighbor. 




At least it's not crack poop.

Cops came. Some of his friends were there too. They didn’t take him away. Seemed peaceful enough.

Haven’t seen our neighbor since the weekend. The lights were on in the same pattern so we assume no one has been there although a window shade was drawn overnight.

Meanwhile the battery died in the funk mobile and darth was out of wiper fluid (windows were frosty).
