Star Wars: Visions
#1
A fix for DM's Star Wars animation jones.

As a matter of fact, my anger does keep me warm

Watched e1&2. These are all shorts about 15-30 mins a piece. It’s a quick binge (Tara already binged it all and gave it a solid thumbs up.

E1 was exquisite - an homage to b&w chanbara with Star Wars twist. An excellent sith lord is introduced. Luved this Ep.

E2 was sort of chibi - it takes place on Tatooine so there’s familiar faces and architecture. Not as good as e1, but was enjoyable none the less.

E3: OK, hold the communicator. That’s not how Star Wars physics works. Very anime. That was ridiculous.

E4: A good Jedi tale. But what was up with those Jedi stilettos?

E5: A deviation from canon. If memory serves, Jedi are supposed to make their own lightsabers. There wasn’t lightsaber smiths. Whatev. I dozed off in this Ep and might have to watch it again if I really want to know. Sleep still wonky from LiB.

E5: glad I rewatched this because I was clearly more asleep than I thought. I recant my earlier statement. I totally misunderstood what was happening here. It’s kinda epic, like the launch of a whole new story arc.

Side note - lightsaber in Japanese is lit-to-was-ba

E6: Pinocchio meets Astro boy didn’t quite work for me. Mediocre Ep.

E7: a classic chanbara tale retold with lightsabers. This one was alright. Curved blade lightsabers were novel.

E8: Wonderful mash up of chanbara and Jedi, with a colonial/environmental message to boot. Nice anime style. Abrupt ending - classic. Good one.

E8: Another good mash up. And that’s season 1. An enjoyable spin on the genres.

If you’re just going to watch one, watch e1 the duel. That was my fav.

It's the novelization that came out of the first episode of Visions - the Duel. Best ep of the show. Really the only one you need to watch. I've watched it several times.

I was debating about cosplaying it to show off my nifty keen katana lightsaber. I have the hakama and keikigo from my Kendo/Iaido days. I just need the cloak and the khyber crystals.

Hmmm? Sorry, Old Bean, I was looking at something else. Short attention span, don’t you know.

Watched the first 3

S2e1 was beautiful. A sith who fell from the path to live a life of solitude as a painter. Wonderfully abstract and an excellent light saber duel. This character deserves her own series.

E2 reminded me of old skool animation. An odd tale of a youngling, perhaps sith again. Loved the master and the master’s ship.

E3 was stop motion. Natives struggling to survive after the empire has poisoned their world. A tale is sisters.

So far, 3 for 3. D00M recommended.
