Today is the one year anniversary of my mom's death so we went to the church to place some flowers. They gave me a key to the columbarium (not a word that gets much use). It's a little fenced in area under the church (which is on a hillside) with ceramic art flanking the gate saying "The sun shall not smite me by day / Nor the moon by night" so I of course I always think of Bob Marley - and DM. There's a little fake stream and I was disappointed it wasn't running, but right when we were about to leave it came on. I suppose the lady in the office who gave me the key flipped the switch; I can't imagine they set a timer for 11:20. Or it was ghosts. Unfortunately the engraver who made the plaques for the niches went out of business during the pandemic so her's is blank.

Me, too.

My father's grave remains unmarked. He passed in 2017. Basically, my mother is cheap.

I'm going with ghosts. Or better said, spirits.
That sounds like a heavy day.
My parents have the Neptune Society. Neither wanted/wants a funeral service or anything like that. My dad's ashes were spread over a rose garden kept by the Neptune Society where they spread countless ashes. It's in San Jose somewhere. I came across the address again when researching my mom's documents and thought that I should visit it someday.

One of my fav Marley tunes - anthemic for my Jedi Nite Krew. And I'm touched that you'd think of me and Bob for it.

Actually a mellow day. It's a very pretty and peaceful place, especially when the spirits turn on the fountain, and we laughed about some of my mom's repeated phrases. And then we went to Falafel Drive-In.

397: Kung Fu. Yay! I need to move some Qi after Moderna 2. Then I might write because I’m still playing catch up. Or I might just chill and enjoy Saturday.

Christina went to work early so I'm on my own. I already got my rowing in. I might meet a friend to go to the museum.

Preparations for surgery say to stop gardening.
So this weekend I'll be planting 8 tomato plants I've nurtured from seeds. A bit early, but they'll just have to deal with it.
I also have hot peppers and eggplant seedlings that can't go in until late May. LCF will have to bury those.
Ahh, the yard is a mess. But by the 20th, 24th at latest, I need to step back from anything with a high bacterial load or risk of a skin cut -- especially on the right leg and Stro stab-point.
I'm nobody's pony.

I wound up writing a bit yesterday and enjoying my Saturday as well, especially with the addition of Paramount+ to my streaming deck.
398: I need to finish those Mortal Kombat Den articles. All the heavy lifting is done - now just a final polish and some titles (note - I've sucked at titles for my Den pieces - they've rewritten almost every one and much to their improvement). I also have two telemeetings for JAH Med because there have been whisperings about potential festivals this summer and like usual, JM is freakin out. I'm hoping to do a beach walk in the morning though.

399: Bicycle Day. But for me, it’s just a Monday preceding a big week. I’m starting to find a rhythm to my work schedule again and Mondays are feeling like Mondays once more.

400: 4/20. I considered breaking my herb fast today. I've not partaken for a year and 4 months. I think this is the longest period I've ever had. I can remember being clean for months, mostly prepping for tournaments and such.
But no. Tomorrow, Stacy gets a new crown. She's kept her dentist in SF for years. I'll go up with her and Yuki, and take Yuki for a walkabout while she gets her work done, and then drive her home. Then I'll head over to my mom's in the evening.
So the fast continues, but probably not for very much longer. I've been waiting until I secured a new fulltime job and the pandemic to subside. I've achieved the job and then some, and while the pandemic still rages, I feel more confident because I've been vaxxed. That kicks in fully in another week.
One reason I've avoided herb, aside from worrying about falling victim to THE FEAR when my job situation was less stable, was the cough. I really do not want to be a coughing Asian right now. But as it turns out, my cough hasn't subsided much at all with the break. It's allergies and acid reflux, just like I've been claiming for years.
I should go to bed. Big day tomorrow.

Pollen is crazy right now. I'm holding off as my sinuses can't take any more abuse.

401: YMAA telemeet first thing. Mom chores - she has an extra one that I’m not sure I have time for because I’m struggling to meet a deadline tomorrow.

Yesterday’s extra chore was getting my mom set up with a new burner phone. Her old one was 3g and AT&T is no longer supporting that. My cousin started the process on Tuesday which helped in some ways but sent me on an endless quest on their unhelpful phone trees and website. Wasted all morning on that until I finally just went down and talked to a human at their office. They solved it but it required a side trip to Target to get the physical phone and then back to the office to get it set up. Cost me the whole days o I was up late last night to meet deadline.
402: Thursday is my double YMAA telemeeting day and Kung Fu.
