DAY 24 I forgot yesterday was Good Friday and tomorrow is Easter.  I'm bummed about that because my mom has always been into Easter and I should have set up something more for her, like got flowers or something.

Otherwise, not much to report today.  Same as any other day.  Since Wednesday afternoon, I've not left the confines of our bungalow unless you count trips to the garbage cans.

Stacy is going stir crazy already and is trying to figure out some sort of ninja hike that avoids any of the closures. She started her puppy quest again.  She was up submitting applications when I got up.

Despite my workout regimen, my back is starting to bitch at me due to inactivity.  Too much web surfing.

BTW, anyone else get bombarded with new sitonmyfacebook friend requests?  I've got several dozen now, mostly from martial circles.  I'm always tentative to reject those because they might be subscribers.

I got a little writing done yesterday and am moderately inspired to continue today.

Good on S for the Quest for Outside. And a puppy.

“No” on the FB requests, but that is because I don’t like people.

Been writing most of today.  Kinda got a groove going on book #2.  Might as well write it now.  Been waiting for an excuse.  It's just hard to stay focused enough to write during all of this.

I made it as far as the sidewalk today.  Stacy opted to stay in. Too many people on our street alone.  Don't really want to venture out any further.

Been spending way too much time on sitonmyfacebook.  Yesterday it was all about face masks. Today it's all about cat toys.  I'm guessing tomorrow will be pajamas.  No wait... tomorrow is Easter.  What do fbers buy on an SIP Easter?

I should go back to writing. At least it whiles away the hours.

We're doing a Lynch family gathering on FB. Then a Jones family gathering on Zoom.

Happy Easter to you as well.

I'm halfway through The Life of Ohuru (1952), but am calling it for tonight.

Let's hope her prospects improve a bit when I resume.

Mmmmmm...Night Cheese. Also, bad band name.

Happy Egg-Laying Rodent Day to you all.

DAY 15: easter.

Today has me oddly melancholy for when I used to wake up early to hide eggs for Tara.  She always colored eggs with my mom until she left for college.

Stacy has taken the car and hopes to find some abandoned road where she can hike a bit.  She's aiming for Mt. Mad road.  She tried to walk the hood but within 5 mins crossed paths with a dozen peeps including someone coughing so she hastily retreated.

I'm finding the transitions between waking and sleeping the hardest.  In the mornings, I still wake for a moment around 6ish, then tuck back to sleep to wake again an hour or so later, then I just lie there, maybe look at my phone, until the need to eliminate forces me to get up.  At night, I tweak over the whole situation so I watch dumb vids, surf the net, ration out a nitecap (medicinal whiskey), and occassionally treat myself to some night cheese (stole that term off fb - some meme about quarantine diets - and it's a decent band name...come on ppfy).

I'll call my mom today to wish her well.  She loves Easter.  Then go about my normal quaranroutine.  Maybe I'll treat myself to some hard boiled eggs.  We have three left.

Another fail on finding a trail.  Stacy drove around searching for something but everything is closed off or populated by lots of potential carriers.

Had a nice chat with my mom.

I think I'm gonna make me some easter toast.

In about an hour we are doing Lynch family video chat on Facebook. When my mother was informed, she chewed out Roberta for not consulting with her first.

So, it's off to a great start.

So how did that go?  Was it like the SNL Zoom routine last night?

I ate my easter salmon, did laundry and cleaned the kitchen.

On Stacy's recommendation, I read an essay by Inez Baranay 'Your Guru Is Your Practice' in Iyengar: The Yoga Master, a collection of Iyengar-based writings from his pupils compiled by one of her current teachers, Kofi Busia.  It compared yoga with writing and was quite on point, especially because my book #2 is essays on comparisions through a martial lens.  I was inspired and also annoyed.  Here during the SIP is the opportune time to crank out this book.  It's something I've been contemplating for a decade now.  And yet, my head is so full of distractions from the circumstances that focus is challenging.

Wifi is dicey today.  Perhaps it's due to everyone zooming.  Hope it settles down soon because Sunday is Homeland night.

DAY 26: Same as it ever was. Got some works tasks to handle actually -  check in with tc to follow up on a major loose end & sketch out something for that consulting job I took.  Also need to check in with EDD since I still have yet to receive anything but some confirmation emails and I can't take those to the bank.

My other lot neighbor is doing some construction in their place.  Their plubming gave out in a major way recently.  They had to dig up their yard (our backyard) and replace an ancient pipe. The water damage tore up their kitchen and bathroom, so now their rebuilding it, I imagine.

Stacy is returning from a morning walk right now.

gawdammit.  the yard workers are here, adding to the cacaphony of the construction in our neighbor's house.  i was just about to start my workout but it's too distracting.  got some writing done but not for book #2 - perhaps out of denial, another essay for my school has been flowing, so i've been chipping on that. it's a throwaway piece, but fun to write.

Finally some sun.  Sitting on the veranda writing.  There's some construction going on in the hood.  Beyond my backyard neighbor, there's a house that was stripped down to its frame and is slowly being rebuilt a few houses down and across the street.  So there the sound of hammering and saws now and again, plus the occassional car, but mostly ocean breezes under the warm sun.

I'm debating about just taking all I've written for this school article and transferring it to book#2, everything but the SIP stuff, which was the original motivation for writing it.  It has meandered on too much for that school platform.  Maybe I need to roll it back a bit.
