Slow Horses (2022)

Time to sign up for Apple+ again. The books this series is based on are very good.

Good so far...Slough House is the pasture where fuckup agents (Slow Horses) get demoted to. But there's goings on and the washups have to do agent things.

I think we just finished Ep 3, so now we're caught up and have to wait for the rest to be doled out weekly...

I'm waiting until they are all out before I resubscribe to Apple. The books, upon which the series is based, are very good.

The Queen and I caught the first episode last night. It follows the book pretty closely. It's very slow and doesn't seem to have the wit of the books. I'm currently debating whether to pay for the subscription to see the rest. It might be worth it because there seems to currently be a lot of good shows on Apple+

We just finished the final ep last night. It was good and brought all the threads together. A quick mention of Smiley at the end. Jonathan Pryce makes a couple of appearances in the series. Brief, but good.

The season ends with a teaser for Season two. The motley crew is assembled and ready for spyventures!

Okay. I started watching again last night. Binged three episodes. They were all much better than that first episode. Lots of action. Lots of wit. I'm back on board.

That was a bit of all right. Granted, I do enjoy the books and this filled that niche. I'm not sure if it will stand up without that background.

But it is a good euro thriller among the espionage agencies. And the story is pretty topical.

Finished season 3. No spoilers. More of the same.

Enjoyed it. Recommended if you like Brit crime drama

Spoiler: the end music comes up at an odd time. I thought it was going to wrap w/o an epilogue, but it does.

Spoiler2: the end is quickly followed with a fully formed trailer for Season 4!

Finished season 2. It finally hit me that this season tied in directly to the book I just read that Lamb references in the season final where he talks about the three women killed by the Stasi because Lamb accidentally mentioned it was a woman.

Another solid outing. Much more action than I remember from the books. In the books they never seem to leave Slough House. And Lamb has a lot more to do. I wonder if that has to do with the prestige of Gary Oldman and they can't just have Oldman sitting around the office?

If I sign back up for more Apple TV, I will watch more.

Because I'm a film nerd, I did recognize that the main Russian agent Nickolai was also the homeless man from Batman Begins who gets Bruce Wayne's coat as Bruce sets off on his adventures.
