I bought a comic book. I haven’t done that in a while. I think the last one I bought was a Darth vader comic that I cut up for laminate backings a few years ago. I used to buy some comics for Tara as presents. I got her a lot of Avatar & Sailor Moon comics over the years. Comics get expensive quickly.
I interviewed some of the artists involved in the for Den of Geek and had been lurking around Atlantis so I felt obligated to support this issue. It’s cool and all but I breezed through reading it in like an hour. I just read it again to admire the art. That’s what I don’t like about comics. They read too fast.
This was a decent read. Asian representation. A lot of cute stories, ironically one about Red Arrow having a kawaii nightmare. The Monkey Prince story (which I did the interview for) was cool - funny and it captured monkey’s essence. On the whole, the collection was a lot of fluff shorts, but it did introduce me to a few Asian superheroes that I didn’t know. Not that I’m that into superheroes.
I had a nice chat with Joe, the founder of Atlantis. He’s a cool old nerd and claims that our very own Haggis Killer was his very first customer. How cool is that? I told him to watch Stro. He said he would. I’m also representing an author that did one of his anniversary comics - he’s got a Karate book coming out soon. So we had a lot of chat about.
I’ll probably gift this issue to Tara. I’ve been meaning to send her the Den of Geek issue too.
