A 6 part mini-series based on guitarist Steve Jones' memoir, directed by Danny Boyle. I haven't finished the last episode, but watching, I keep wondering how much of the story is embellished. I'm not a huge Sex Pistols fan. I like the album. I've seen The Greatest Rock and Roll Swindle. I've seen Sid and Nancy, but I kept pausing the show to look things up on Wikipedia, like what happened to Glen Matlock after he left the band. I still don't know if Steve Jones was absolutely illiterate as presented in the series.
I was surprised how much this was a story about Chrissie Hynde. She's a love interest to Jones, she teaches him how to play guitar, and she helps the band ship Nancy back to NY to keep her away from Sid. I had no idea she had any connection to the Pistols, but apparently she was going to marry either Jones or Rotten before her visa expired. That didn't happen and I don't know how she resolved that.
While rabbit holing on Wikipedia I learned a few other things.
Did you know that Ray Davies was shot in the leg in 2004 in New Orleans when he chased some thieves that had stolen his companion's purse?
Any hoo...not particularly recommended unless you are interested in punk
